I have never said that I am a good mother.

However, I will stand by my opinion that Baby TV has a lot to offer, even to babies of 10 weeks. What exactly do you think is on it? Actually it is full of things designed to stimulate young minds in chunks that they can cope with.

Obviously I am a bad person to think that it would be good for little bear to be exposed to a form of stimulus that has a lot of research behind it.

I am even worse - sometimes he listens to the radio. And now he is a bit old to benefit from Baby TV I am deliberately going to try and make sure the tv is on for things like Boogie Beebies so we can dance along together, or Mr Maker, so we can have a go at some of the splodgy stuff. There is no end to my iniquity.

I would recommend Baby TV to anyone with a little one, and although I never had that much problem with sleep when little bear was little, I would certainly recommend the gentle music and kaleidascope to those trying to soothe a little one at 2am.

    Hi Hun!

I wasnt going to post today as im not feeling too well, but wanted to make sure you are okay? I honestly dont think HJ meant anything personal by what she said yesterday and WE all know you are a great mum! It was just her personal opinion (sp)

DD used to love Barney:eek::eek::eek: and that was bright and colourful....and it used to do my head in:rotfl:.....still makes me shudder when I think of him now. I think I have seen the channel you mean on Sky and it is specifically chosen by qualified people to stimulate babies with colour and sound.

I used to put DD in front of the WM as it made her go to sleep when she was a baby in her little rocker:D

You are not a bad person!

Chin Up and just wanted to send you a hug.

PP - that bought back some memories - my daughter too loved Barney I used to myself singing the songs when she wasnt around. DS was into Postman Pat. Myself - loved Bagpuss & Jackanory. Certainly didnt seem to do me any harm. I think if you monitor what kids watch there is some good stuff out there, but also there is a lot of carp. Nowdays DD is addicted to Hannah Montanna now that does drive me mad :rotfl:. Hope you feel better soon.

Had quite a restful day after all, the weather turned horrible so we have all recharged our batteries. Unfortunately didnt get any stuff on ebay so that is carried forward to tomorrow.....(again). Ironing basket is empty though :j

Looking into stuff to do in half term. Think will be a few trips to London and the beach if the weather ever kicks in. Cant believe they have only 1 more week at school then off again.

Early night tonight, will probably fall asleep watching George Gentley - sky+ it too, falling asleep with Martin Shaw in your head is no bad thing:D

Sybil, I was not making you out to be a bad mum yet your posts are certainly implying that I did.
Once again, the issue I had was with a specific channel for tiny babies which I had never heard of. Toddlers fair enough, but I never used TV as a stimulus for my babies. That doesn't mean I'm right but it is my personal opinion and last time I checked, I am still entitled to that. I won't get into my reasons for thinking the way I do. I really think I shall just stick to OS posts and keep my opinions to myself.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday folks.

Whoa ladies, please don't let us all kick off again, no one has made any accusations, but I think we have to consider that not everyone's situation is the same. I was lucky and my DM & DMIL were brilliant and always there whenever needed to cuddle, or take chores if I was duff. I also had two fantastic neighbours one set being like an exra set of GP to our DS, and a DH who could settle him better than I could.
Not everyone is so fortunate, and if you have had no sleep for a week, feel carp, and LO is screaming again, no one else to turn to and something soothes them, you will do it, we all would.

I will admit that when DS awoke at 6am on a Sunday morning, and he would sit and watch cartoons on TV while we snoozed and grabbed an extra few minutes sleep, we got up and put it on for him, we were very close to him as we have a bungalow, and he luckily would just sit and watch them for a while.

No-has accused anyone of being Bad Mum, we all know you love LB dearly, just expressed an opinion that they do not like the idea of Baby TV, it is a more modern concept than any of us appreciate.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, can we remember that this is the OLD STYLE BOARD, and keep posts to mainly old Style, otherwise posters who have Old Style stuff to talk about will be scared off (and that includes me :o ).

    Have a peaceful night, everyone.
