If you live near a big city then find out hen local events, parades etc are happening. London is great for this but most towns and cities have all manner of fetes, carnivals, parades, exhibitions etc on. It's chinese new year this week and London is having its celebrations on Sunday - we're heading up as it's always a great day out. The restaurants all have stalls outside selling traditional street fod quite cheaply, and it's an excellent day!

    Hi,
We go to the picture with the free tickets - see [FONT=&quot]Freebies and also use vouchers/coupons for meals - can take a bit of planning but worth it.

Use the local parks and nature reserves to go walking - got to know the wardens and they tell us about events and we take binoculars to make it a bit more interesting. In the summer can bring drawing things for GD and me to use. Use the bike when not raining.

Look in the library or sports hall for 'what's on' - may be something free or a trial session.

Always on the lookout for something in my area in this site.:rotfl:

Stay focused on the bigger plan -
  • Play board games. Do a quiz. Cook together. Take the toddler for a walk in the lighter evenings.

  • Borrow a film from your local library (our's charges £1 per week) or record onefrom TV amd plan an evening meal or snacks to go with it sticking to a budget.

Have a 'better than' M & S dine in night - have 3 or 4 courses and drinks of choice all for under £10. Ideally, take it in turns to cook and describe what is coming in the appropriate tempting language.
  • Invite some old school friends round and serve a 'school dinner' and or pudding using the school meals recipes here.

Tell me about it, just like me - the advice is sooooo addictive and it takes a lot of time to read about what people are doing!

check out your library and council website for local events. We too have a toddler so nights out are rare.

Our evenings are dvds and pick and mix from asda (I always take my own sweets when we go to the movies too)

Friends round for a few beers and either a takeaway or pot luck dinner - everyone brings a contribution for a shared supper/ lunch

Book group with some mum friends - nice to talk about something other than kids once in a while.

Girly pamper nights with facepacks, cake and cheap fizzy wine

Tonight is m&s meal deal and a lighting a fire for a romantic night in.
