I use wax tarts in a burner, I find the smell is really strong. Especially recommend caramel frappacino and flapjack scent!0

I am going to try the essential oils on cotton balls but for kitchen odours I use the cooks candle (from Lakeland) which does work very well.0

I All bought on-line after much research for the cheapest place
Do you use the same company time and time again or do you research every time you buy? If it is the same comapny all the time can you let us in on your research........please?
I have only purchased the small bottles from Boots before but I think these are expensive.0 -
You can get some essential oils at Holland & Barratt which aren't expensive but the most comprehensive selection that I've found is from a website called "New Directions". It's mainly aimed at aromatherapists and they have a massive choice of essential oils, absolutes and scented oils in a range of sizes. Warning: think twice about ordering their catalogue or you'll find yourself carried away with the idea of making your own scented candles and toiletries, like I did. They supply all of the base materials and bottles to make soaps and lots of other delicious things as well. I'm currently making scented candles for Christmas presents and having a lot of fun choosing and making blends for each person.
And no, I'm not associated with or have any commercial interest in the site. I only wish I did considering all the money I've spend with them in the past.0 -

Sad as it may seem, I do research every time, but I'm happy to share the good places I've found:
www.essentialoilsonline.co.uk - Lime oil is only £1.99 for 10ml
http://www.enaissance.co.uk/acatalog/Conventional_Essential_Oils.html - Grapefruit oil is £2.99 for 10ml
www.holisticshop.co.uk - I haven't used these for a while, but worth a look.
I do buy larger bottles than this as it works out cheaper, but only if you use it regularly, as it can 'turn' if kept for too long e.g. years. You really only need two or three drops in water in an oil burner.
If anyone fancies mixing their own incense - to burn on charcoal blocks, rather than essential oils then try here: http://www.panspantry.co.uk/price.html
I hope this helps someoneSome people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

The cotton wool balls is a great idea, I usually put some lavender oil on then pop them in an odd sock (we breed them :rotfl:) and put them in the laundry cupboards to keep musty smells away! Have also used them behind the radiator and they work really well!
Thank god I'm not the only one who HATES that blooming advert! It gets my back up every time it comes on! DH dreads the rant that follows it!!!AF since 10.04.11

Try http://www.idaromatics.co.uk/index.asp they undercut on both the Lime and Grapefruit.
Started using them when I was a student at Leeds Uni too many years ago to think about! They now do online, so they are a well established company. I like Bergamot and really like Lavender, too.
I also like Yankee candle tarts they last for ages in an oil burner ( only some are close enough to the candle to melt them succesfully) I like the Clean Cotton got loads from ebay and they are lasting for ages.
I am sure that you have done this, but can you isolate the source of the smell? I find we have to bath our dog every fortnight - yes I know some people think this is too often, but I can't stand it any longer and neither can she! She starts rolling in horrid things after about 2 weeks trying to mask her smell. As she is getting older she smells worse and is dreadful at the moment as she is a Golden Retriever and is moulting everywhere and leaving her smell where she moults!0 -

Thanks for this - I've bookmarked the site for the next time I need to order :T. I hadn't come across Yankee Candle Tarts so I'll have a look for these too.
One thing I read is that grapefruit has a funny effect on the male sense of smell. Research was carried out and found that women wearing perfume with a predominantly grapefruit scent - were thought of as being up to ten years younger than those wearing other perfumes:T For those who don't want to get into making their own - Arran Aromatics do a lovely range, including soap, shower gel and eau de toilette
.
Just a quick note - Jojoba (because it isn't technically an oil) is the only carrier that does not go off with age - so very MSE.
