  • Opening the window/door is my best way of making the house smell fresh!

Collect lavender from the garden (doesnt help you much at this time of year i appreciate though!!!)

Edit - do you really need 3 in one room?! I cant stand the things tbh - make me sneeze and dont like the artificial smell

    :rotfl: Have a bath:rotfl:

    Only kidding!
  • I'd be worried about any health implications of inhaling 3 in the same room surely that can't be healthy.

I think it would be healther to get an oil burner. Go and smell all the natural oils in the health shop and see which smell you prefer or maybe have someone mix one up, to match the ambi pure, for you.

I was advised by my doc not to use plug in's as they are so bad for your chest. I know they make me very wheezy.
I also love fresh flowers and the windows open even on a winters day :)

  • If you use an oil burner, you can either add drops of oil to water and let the water evaporate by the heat of the candle (Ikea do 100 candles for less than £2)

Or, I've got a bit of scented wax in mine (cinnamon) so it melts and then solidifies again when there's no heat. Great - less danger of spillage! :)

Do you vacuum? If so a drop of essential oil on a piece of cotton wool vacuumed up each time you put in a new bag- if you use a bag type, not sure about bag less - scents the room as you clean it. After that then essential oils on pot-pourri or lavender bags.

I must admit that I now prefer fresh air:D

    Hi shabbychicfan,

I'm another fan of fresh air although I do like the seasonal yankee candle tarts at Christmas. There's a very recent thread on freshening up the home the old style way that may help:

    OS (nice) smelly homes?

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

These older threads may be useful too:

    gel air freshners?

Save money - resuse plugin refills

Isnt this just an urban myth?
