My peefer just sits there smiling all day - should I get her a job  . Would have to be home working cos she can't drive & even the easy access buses are too high for her.

 hmmm, as she sits next to the phone maybe she could do those rude phone calls.........

Back to reality...... as you suspected hq, will be making it up to £50 and paying in Weds:T :T :T . Will be a good month, but next will be bad as need to pay for holiday, 1/2 fridge freezer and £300 car bill  . Plus car tax and 1st MOT:eek:  . May go off now & look for car quotes.... wish me luck.....
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Good luck! Are you going on to the insuresupermarket website!
I think that would be the ultimate mortgage pig- one that has a job and fills up with money by itself - well I can dream! Working my fingers to the bone while the pig sits there grinning and gets all the credit for paying off the mortgage!!!!
If you do your car insurance online makesure if its linked to any cashback sites!! More for the piggy then!

  • hi everyone!

i dont actualy have a mortgage yet but i want one!

me and the other half want to move into our own first place in january. we are getting a 100 per cent mortgage, but we still need 4k for fees etc. we have just over 2k now and want to save 100 pounds a week between now and then and we think we can do it! my dad is giving me 500 pounds to help next month for my birthday so that is saving us 5 weeks! or we can keep going and have extra!

anyway i have one of those pots you smash. in there, goes notes, pound coins and 50ps. when i go clubbing, i normally take out 60 quid ish (WAS! im not going out again this year, dont need to) but i would only spend half and id always put the rest in the pot in the morning (while looking after a hangover!) so that pot must have loads of money in it as ive been doing this all year!

any other change goes in my shiny hot pink pig i bought in new look months ago ( no one else mentioned these pigs? they were gorgeous.. but then i shouldnt of been in there in the first place!) i need a name for her (time for more female piggie i think!) dont know why, but the name chantelle is calling me. perhaps coz the pig is so feminine and glamourous!

sadly (or in a good way - which ever way you look at it!) i have ALOT of no spend days, as i walk to and from work, i bring in lunch and dont buy magazines and i gave up fags a few months ago! so i never have change! but i do find the odd coin and im given some from family sometimes and the OH does take out the odd 20 to live on and give the change to chantelle (yeah i like the name!)

ive been reading all this thread since yesterday about this time and its because of all you lovely people that ive even signed up to that pigs back thing!

everyone keep going your all doing really well (especailly you, HQ!)!:o

    love

  • Mortgage pig - sounds a good idea think i will give it a go, cant put any £2 coins in though as Im also about to try the £2 collecting. Question - where can I get a big enough pig?
  • Do you mean big enough to hold the money - or big enough to take a £2 coin!
Any piggy bank will do but its better if its a cute animal!
To be honest if you're collecting £2 coins you want to bank it farily often or you will lose out on interest. I put mine in a bonus savers account, I think halifax do a fairly good one - I've seen i advertised but don't know any small print. the one I have you have to deposit at least £20 every month to get the bonus. After I've had the bonus in October I will be withdrawing £1000 to go towards my mortgage, so next year my bonus will be in November as long as I put £20 in every month between oct 06 and oct 07.
I only put £20 to £40 in it a month, the rest goes straight into the mortgage as its saving me interest immediatley as mines calculated daily. A couple of quid might not seem much but over a few years over the mortgage it soon adds up interest!
Good luck and hope you and djdy are regulars on here!
  • Well when you said she was a psychologist I thought the pig had gained qualifications as well!

That had me giggling for ages, thanks!

No I mentioned my friend was a Psychologist as I thought she would understand the whole naming the pig thing, it actually works doesn't it?
I think though that I have just mnaged to convince her that I should be a patient rather than a friend....

Well I don't care, it's working and I love her. Wendy that is.

A hot pink pig called Chantelle sounds perfect, she should make you very rich indeed dj, good luck.
    Waddle you do eh?

Big enough to hold loads and loads of money (not £2 coins, and probably not paper money either!):rotfl:
  • Its surprising how much the little piggies hold, I've seen a pig that 'talks' tells you what coin you have put in and asks for more - but they are £20 - so computer said no!
Have a look in the charity shop or get your self a big jar from the chippie - the one they hold the pickled eggs in cut a slit in the top - not your fingers. Seal the top all the way around with tape and sign it - you're less likely to raid it.
I suppose in the interests of cuteness you could put a pair of ears on it! In fatc you could get quite creative!

Creative hmmm... yes... turn the jar on it's side and use the cardboard roll leftover from the kitchen towel for legs/feet mind you they would probably collapse under the weight of all the coins :rotfl:
