well after my initial £20 for prudence from my lotto wins i am afraid she hasnt been very well fed :(

i have only had coppers left over from my weekly allowance for her, but on a bright side, at least i have stuck to my budget so far :)

keeping my fingers crossed for some more lotto wins so i can feed her properly.
Thanks to all who post comps :T

Daft as it may be...it's all psychological and tackling mortgage/debt etc from every angle possible can only be a good thing. (Even if you run the risk of being thought of as a numpty :rotfl: )

My wife and I was talking about this t'other night walking the dog. I decided that the only way we are going to make any savings is to give me an allowance each week. From next month I'm getting £20 a week pocket money... ( yes i'm 46 and getting pocket money) and i've turned over the bank cards and credit card ot my wife because if I see spare money i am afraid that i'll spend it. I have in the past spent £50 on a bunch of flowers and sent them to my wifes works, i've booked holidays as surprises for my wife and I and the list goes on so thanks for the pig idea, i'm going to make one out of a balloon and papier mache..... Am I sure i'm 46???

The thing is though, I used to use money to "make things better" if she had a crap week at work we'd spend money on the weekend, If she was suffering each time of the month, i'd take her out to a posh resteraunt.... instead of solving the underlining problems. These last two years when the money has gone means we are more atuned with our talking, our social skills and actually being able to see changes in each other and nip problems in the bud earlier.
Also a £10 cd for me on fathers day or a £15 book for my birthday etc means so much more to me now than spending £250 on a whole host of things for these special days..

Poverty really focuses the mind and attitudes and when we are DF we will remember these two years.....

As for the pig..... Mk ii version is not a balloon now, it's going to be a Picaso inspired version..... watch this space, lol.

Well, 'Will,' our newlifeinthecountry pig is being well fed at the moment! He may have to be emptied soon!!!! :D
the kids LOVE feeding him with every stray, spare and begged coin they can! Grandpa came the other day and he was told that if he wanted the loo he had to pay the pig!!!:rotfl:
  • I have a grinning cat piggy bank that is blue and white and a larger cat piggy bank that says on it holiday fund. But I rarely fill them because I buy everything by visa or debit. My intention is when I finish work to get rid of my debit cards and old accounts and open a flex cash card only account with nationwide so I only have cash in hand and not overspend. Any change I will put straight in, but think I will put a note on both of them to say 'make my day and make me grin more - pennies please'

then I can add it to my mortgage but there is only me to do it!

Actually, although me and my boyfriend dont live together yet and Im 36 and he is 46, I know that when we do (and he knows this too) he will be getting an allowance and I will be in control of credit/debit cards. He is terrible for frittering and he knows that I will manage the money much better than he will.
Have just found this thread about the money pig, Im on the internet looking for a suitable one that will 'speak' to me!!!

Oh Jenner, at 36, surely you should still be a blue peter girl ! Why not make one then it will speak to you all the time.
  • Mortgage issues are giving me more headache today than a decade ago. It seems the government made some booboos when they passed that mortgage law a few years ago.
