Well, Monty is rather empty (although he is a big pig)!! I have managed to pay some little extras off my offset using my Quidco cashback and other bits of money I get. Paid £15 off this morning and should get around £50 Quidco to pay off in a few days.

However, I've decided to change my car and it looks like I will have to dip into the offset in order to get the one I want. Fortunately we were very MSE and sold the car privately and got way more for it than we were offered as trade in so that's going to be a real help.

Bit cheesed off as we were about to dip under a nice round figure on the mortgage and looks like we'll be adding a bit more to our debt. However, I'll keep at it with the extra bits I'm paying off as every bit will help!

  • Long time since posting but my mortgage cow (I had a cow nt a pig!) is now a more fitting mortgage Land Rover, but it is still working! Two lots of payments of £80ish in the last few months gone in. Gobsmacking what would have been wasted otherwise!!

If anyone is interested I have a HUGE ceramic cow I was originally using, and you can have her for £10 posted to UK mainland, if you're interested PM. Cheers!

well, prudence may have her work cut out.

fallen in love with a new build up the road, it will mean having a mortgage 3 times the one i have if we are able to get it, but as my mortgage is small anyway, will still be a smaller mortgage than a lot of people i know.

just juggling round some figures to see how me and OH will cope with extra payments, will probably mean extending mortgage for another 6 years to keep monthly repayments down, but will still rely on prudence to help me pay it off earlier.

just hoping it will work out as i really think it is my dream home :)
Thanks to all who post comps :T

STOP DREAMING and look at reallity. The housing market has crashed, banks are being tight gits and you want to risk everything for a new box with no charicter ??

Hopefully that wasn't too rude but hope it made you think a bit. Please Kosama 1 don't do it just yet. If you must buy a new shoe box on an estate then wait until they are desperate and you will get a much better deal.

If you have to juggle then why are you contemplating the move? My first mortgage was for £3000 20 yrs later i've just re mortgaged for £136,000....... and still got 24 years to go to pay it off. Believe me it's not worth it... in my humble oppinion.

no worries chimp choker, i dont consider you rude.

but, the plan was to reduce this mortgage, making it easier to find somewhere else without a huge mortgage, for a new build it definitely wasnt a shoe box, and it seems because the prices have dropped it could possibly be within reach (just depends on how quickly we can reduce other debts, or know we could handle both). tbh, i really hate the house i am living in now, and the thought of just staying put really depresses me, i am just not happy here. i think a slightly bigger mortgage may be worth it if i am happy.

realisticly, we will be in a better position next year for the house hunt - but after looking at a few, i can see me growing old in this one :(. mortggae would only be approx 90k so not too big, just a big diference to my 30k mortgage i have now which is why we would hav to see that we can manage without it being to big a shock to system

and where would we be without dreams, lol. (more skint than now obviously)
Thanks to all who post comps :T

Well, things aren't as bad as I thought. Managed to only have to chip in a fraction of what I thought I would need to on a newer car AND got a massive £1800 off thanks to walking into the car supermarket with a web price for the car we bought. Checked it all out and did indeed get a very good deal.

Hopefully the money I will now save in petrol can be used towards the mortgage :o
