I have now received my piggy from Pigsback after they finally got them back in stock. Haven't thought of a name for it yet but am bordering on Miss Piggy (a bit obvious I know).

Added bonus, at the weekend I decided to do a bit in the garden and put on an old coat to find over £3.00 in change that I forgot I had which has now been put in "Miss Piggy".
    Did owe £9,951.96

Now helping hubby pay off loan. Finally paid off :j

    Owe Virgin [STRIKE]£5,950.00 [/STRIKE]at 0% til June 2009 £3,427.89. Owe HSBC [STRIKE]£5,460.78 [/STRIKE]2.9% til May 2010 £3,703.07. Owe Post Office £1,676.62 at 0% til September 2010

I updated about a few weeks ago to say I had £35 in my goose but counted it today and have £60 :j:j:jand a few pence over which won't make it to the bank, really really pleased as haven't missed the money at all. My OH and I have decided we need to put at least £50 a month away for mortgage payments, and then maybe in a few months increase this to £60 then £70 etc etc.

You don't have to weigh your pot ( unless you want to) I think people are weighing theirs because they are pots they can't open ( terimundi or plaster of paris) so by weighing them they can see the amount go up without having to open the pots.

And Ecoelle I have only just seen your post, I am in work tomo for the last time for a few weeks so will try my hardest to get my stupid brain to remember to weigh it!!!!

Ps I was half gutted and half pleased when I saw this thread had had a post today as I had completely forgotten that I had promised to myself to save £50 a month for my mortgage goose, I even spent a sacred £2 ( mortgage) coin on Sat, so please everyone post on this thread and keep it in my concious mind to save £50 a month !!!!!!

    Thanks!

  • Ok - So I may be a bit sad, but I'm really looking forward to counting up the money in the 'Mortgage Owl' and the 'Holiday Pig'......

We're off on hols soon so I want to know how much the pig has. I wanted a mortgage pig but she wears a yellow bikini and has a sign saying 'Holiday Money' so I couldn't use her for Mortgage savings - I have an old Green Owl which belonged to my Grandma - 'The Wise Old Owl says Pay Off Your Mortgage Early........!'

The Pig gets £2.00 coins, the Owl gets £1.00, 50p, 20p & 10p, and anything smaller goes into a big glass bottle for the stepkids spending money when we take them on hols.
Mind you - DH only contributes to the kids change fund - he says he can't afford to put into the others, but I am working on him!

Will let you know the totals tomorrow!

I've seen a few in charity shops or you could buy a teramundi like me! The reason i weigh mine is because i like to see the amount going up but it's too heavy for the kitchen scales so off to the bathroom...about 2kg i think! it's hard to tell on the scale as it's not very accurate but every coin counts!

Hello mortgage savers. I only weigh 'Phil' the pig because he's in the sealed pot challenge and I like to know he's eating at least a few pennies each week. My mortgage 'brick' gets slips of paper stuck in it and the savings transferred to the bank immediately so I get the monthly interest and can see my housefund moving when I transfer it. Am I ultra-mean or what? :)

Note to Batgirl - don't forget to save £50 a month for your mortgage pig :)
