This is such a fantastic idea. Have been reading the thread from the start so have some great ideas for saving. Got Peefer last weekend and made my first payment (£470) off the mortgage - money we would have wasted I'm sure, if not for this thread. The best thing is that the OH has completely bought into the idea which is great! Looking forward to the next payment after a few eBay sales.
Hi Sonade & savvykaz!
Sonade, I too have a Peefer :T:T:T:T:T:T. Yours looks rather masculine and mines is a fetching see through pink...... (courtesy of pigsback) maybe we could get them together and produce some peeferlets to sell to other MFW's :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
PS for those who don't know, Peefer means P for Pig.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

i have just (very reluctantly) taken on a small mortgage following my divorce. really wanted to try not to, but in the end to get the house i wanted i had to.
luckily i already have a pig - he is now a mortgage pig!!!!
thanks to you good folks on here i'm inspired, and got the most flexible mortgage i can to over-pay, over-pay and overpay!!
will post a pic soon - he's very gorgeous!!
am i better of focussing on say 20 p's, or just throwing all my loose change at him??

I agree with Hughs approach but with mine I chuck everything in minus a couple of quid. If I go the shops on a weekend and come back with change from a tenner, then it all goes in bar a couple of quid should I need it the next day. That way I can quickly get a large amount without realising it from loose coins and my wife looks after the notes. The only problem I have with my approach is getting enough of each coin to fill a bank coin bag to cash in i.e. £10 of 20ps etc.Gordon Brown ate my hamster0 -
Im loving this thread. I already have a pink piggy bank at home that I save my change in. But usually this just goes straight into the bank and gets spent. So now...its going to be my 'mortgage pig' I shall name her Miss Pink just like me. What a fab thread. I was really good with my mortgage goose for a good few months but the novelty has worn off and I have paid nothing off the mortgage for about 4 months. basically sine I discovered I can pay no lees than £500 off at a time I haven't been saving. if I could just put £20 or £30 a month off mortgage I know I would every month but having to have £500 I feel its unacheivable but I am going to start again. With xmas ahead I tend to have more cash around the house to more £2 coins and change to get thrown in the goose and also more savings to make with each pressie that I can also throw in the goose and get back in gear a bit.May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080

Hi Batgirl - If you have the £500 limit but are keen to just put £20/£30 away, have you thought about putting a standing order for that monthly amount into a savings product such as a top paying savings account? That way the money is being siphened with little pain and it would be earning reasonable interest. Then perhaps should you have some other funds about - say you end up with a couple of hundred one day, you may be able to add the two together to get to the £500.Gordon Brown ate my hamster0 -

bless you for thinking about my rant I realy appreciate that. I have got a seperate web saver now to put money across into and for a few months I put about £30 a month into it but thenmy husband took a much better but less paid job and I kind of gave up but now and even more so as of the start of january I am really going to start making a differance and making sure at least £25 a month goes into the goose and as i already have £200 saved ( £130 in web saver £70 in quidco) and by the end of 2008 i will have paid off at least 1 month extraa very small amount but better than nothing . ( although with a £200k mortgage sometimes it feels like a few pounds will make no diff but eventually I know they have to)
thanks again for thinking about my dilema as i say I really appreciate it.
