Hi Tattycath
I feel its better to be doing what is right for you than doing nothing at all.
Hi djbd, thanks for getting back to me, I have taken the plunge and e-mailed DD with projected amount we are aiming for. If we manage to pay any more than that it will be a bonus and we will be reducing the amount of interest regardless.:D
At least being on MFW board will give us the incentive, as well as doing the grocery challenge and studying all the other boards I am coming across.
Thanks again.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi Guys,
I don't have a mortgage pig but I've been amazed by how many "piggys" are on sale in the shops this xmas - all the big shops have them, even M & S. I've seen massive ones (Piggys) as well...I did wonder if the big-shops buyers had been lurking on this board;):p0 -
hi, Ive just been to Netto, and they are selling 'posh pigs'. they are trendy piggy banks and only £2.99. i can't wait to start paying more off my mortage!!0

Thought the mortgage pig idea was great, so we're making a savings pig with our kids by using a balloon & paper mache (using free papers with flour & water). It's a good size, and we won't be able to take anything out of it without breaking it - the idea being that we'll have to wait until it is full.
Otherwise I've started car-sharing with a colleague (saving approx £80-£100 per month, plus less wear and tear on the car), and making my own packed lunch (saving approx £50 per month). By transferring the money I've saved in a savings account at the end of each week it keeps me motivated and disciplined.
Hoping the pig and the work savings together will come to about £200 per month - we'll see how it goes!0 -
This is such a fab idea - I have had wellington the dragon for a year now - he has been used to help me pay off my debts. Now those are gone - yipeee! he is oficially turned into a MFW dragon! I am very happy to be part of the gang!

Just an extra thing - I stopped buying sandwiches off the sandwich chap at work and although I don't come home with change from that anymore to put in my money box I technically save approx £2 a day or £40ish a month.
I've just gotta keep the sandwiches interesting though.Gordon Brown ate my hamster0
