I know a few folk have mentioned looking for a mortgage pig and while it still costs thought I'd mention one i saw today in Lloyds Chemists. I assume they have similar stock in all their shops? This was a kit with a naked pig :o and little pots of paint to decorate it yourself. I guess you might be able to use other paints, glitter.... whatever.

I couldn't see what the piggie looked like 'cos the box was sealed and the staff were watching but might be worth checking out if you have a Lloyds near you and you're looking for a piggie....the kit costs £2.99

Already have a collecting menagerie or might have been tempted.

  • Our cow came through yesterday and its brilliant - absolutely massive about the size of a large teapot!! £20 in it already as a welcome to our house opener. We have named it Meredith the Mortgage Cow - Feed often, milk rarely. I hope she works!
  • I've had the day off and just took £250 done to the bank from our 'treasure chest' pot. It was mostly notes as I would have to be a weight lifter if it was all coins. Rained like it was the end of the world and I had to park 10 minutes walk away. Since I've been back the suns come out.

If the sun shins on the righteous then best stay in when I'm out on the streets.

  • Soon adds up huh? How long did that take to save?

Quite a few months but most of that has been in the house for years probably. My wife was a squirrel in a former life because we kept finding money all around the house in draws, books, under cupboards, and in the most bizaar places.

My Mum stills give me money for my birthday as well even though I am now 34. I keep telling her to keep it for herself and go out to a show and get a cab home but you know what Mums are like. She worries about leaving an inheritance to me, my brother and my sister but I constantly tell her and my Dad to spend it like its going out of fashion, get drunk, have big holidays and when it runs out (they are both 70) they can get us back for caring for us, as we will have to take care of them.

  • Just thought I'd mention I was in Au Naturale the other day and they have savings pigs and cows for £9.99
  • That's what ours cost from eBay. I know it was a £10 but good value if it helps us save, which it has as now got £40 in it as I got £20 divi from the scrap money (we run machinery about and someof it gets scrapped). So now we're £30 up, so its working!!

djbd1973 - we tell ours the same but they dont listen!
