I cancelled sky, as i thought £43.50 was too much, hoping they would reduce it to half price for me - they didnt so i have cancelled, and decided to pay it into my mortgage instead.
Just worked out how much time i will save of my mortgage with just that payment, and i will knock off 4 years, 4 months, saving £12,500 in interest!!!!

I've been meaning to post for a while, but I'd forgotten my password *and* my username, and it took until today for me to see what info I needed for the "forgotten your password?" bit, oops!

Anyway, I've decided to sort out a jar to keep in the kitchen, and label it "Don't buy a takeaway!", as that is probably one of our biggest failures. They seem so cheap here in Leeds, that just compounds the temptation!

But I'm going to be cheap about it and upgrade one we have that previously only had 2p coins collected in it, hurray, a saving already! :p

Catowen, wow, that shows the true cost of Sky! :rotfl:

We've a £111k ish mortgage with just under 39 years left to run, though we definately don't intend to let it run its course! Until now, and for a few more months, we needed all spare cash for renovations, but soon we'll be putting what we can into overpayments.

I have just found a £10 note in a coat pocket so that's gone straight into Percy and I wasn't even slightly tempted to use it so I am well chuffed :j

All this MSEing is definitely changing the way I think about money :D

  • For the OP who thought everyone would laugh... just read this thread out to my OH who has decided he wants a donkey 'piggy' bank so he can call it Daniel the Debt Donkey. And they say I'm mad!
