    Welcome back Glam.

Glad you had a good weekend, I did wonder how you got on.

Off to watch tv before an earlyish night as I'm chairing the meeting from hell tomorrow and I know sleeping in this heat is not going to be easy. I've never been a summer person but now I'm the size of a small barn it is even worse.

    Have a good evening all

OH's baptism went well - we had a lovely lunch with friends afterwards and then came home and started doing a bit more tidying and cleaning.

Bit cross as the in-laws and bro-in-law and his missus were going to visit in two weekends' time but now want to come next weekend!

They've never been here before and the house is still a mess and that leaves us no time to sort it, and as this was my house before OH moved in I know they will judge me for it and I wanted time to be able to clean it up more.

At least they have now decided what they want to buy us and have gone for the crib, so I have ordered the crib, mattress and a bouncy chair from boots and they will come on Friday.

The list of stuff to buy is nearly all corssed off now which is great. :D

Confused about sheets though - are all baby sheets flanelette? I hate flanelette. :(

Also cannot find cheap baby hairbrush - they are all about a tenner

Have never bought a baby hairbrush as it's so fine just washing is enough. And my sheets are jersey, mothercare do both. X

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Had a day out yesterday and have been shamelessly crying and feeling sorry for myself all day because i stupidly let myself get ridiculously sunburnt :(:(:( Had a cool bath earlier with some vinegar - not sure if that's an old wives tale but it soothed it no end - til i got out and felt like i was on fire all over again.

Finally had my booking in appt today :T We reckon i'm 12+6 and my midwife is really lovely, she gave me the healthy start form and the pregnancy book and loads of leaflets, explained all about the downs testing etc - did everyone here have those bloods done? Anyone had to follow those up with amnio?

Mw said she will do her best to get my dating scan booked in asap so she said hopefully we'll get a phone call with appt for that tomorrow! Was expecting frowns and a lecture about smoking but she was really lovely and said i had done brill to cut down so much and will refer me and OH to a nice lady who can prescribe us something to help with quitting altogether, so i'm looking forward to that.

She said as my BMI is 31 (we think - i've avoided weighing for ages) i'll need to have a glucose test at about 24 weeks - has anyone else here needed that? She said i'll have to fast from 9pm til about 11am :o.

OH has been acting weird, had a huuuge fight earlier about something trivial and him saying he's sick of doing everything in the house (i disagree). Anyway i slapped his sunburn  and he slapped mine back  - cue loads of overreacting and screaming and me telling him to pack his bags etc. Then i fell asleep for about 3 hours and he's still here and has cooked us tea and made me a cuppa and nothing's been mentioned since. :o:o:o:confused:

So sorry to hear bumble couldn't stay with us again, i really hope there can be an explanation found and i hope she doesn't give up.

Meanwhile, hoping everyone else has had a better day than i have, still whimpering away here over the sunburn, moisturising it loads (it stings!!!) and drinking lots of water.

Do baby sheets not just come in nice cotton? Jersey would be Ok if I have to, but I thought you'd be able to get plain cotton ones. Is there a reason why you can't?

You can get cotton which I have as a top sheet but I do like the jersey fitted sheets for the mattress as babies can be real wrigglers at night.
