Took them three weeks from my registration to even send me that email apologising for the delay - and it's been over four weeks since then .... but I guess it's a freebie, and I've no reason to nag :D

Just a thought, but I wonder how accurately they record the measurement? I mean if it was (for example) 4.7cm last week and was rounded up to 5cm, then was 4.4cm this week that would be a lot less of a change. I might be totally wrong, but just wonder if they are still happy that you are average whether they actually measure to the millimetre. Could you give them a call to find out a bit more if it's playing on your mind?

I've just checked the doctor's letter and it's actually gone from 53mm to 38mm. Now I'm even more concerned.

Hmm. I think we need to move faster on the cleaning and organising! Someone else must nest for me!

Elle, I'm sorry things are not looking good, but you are a very brave person. Enjoy every single moment you have with him. But I still hope he will pull through, miracles do happen. As for the decision you have to make, I'm sure you will make the right one, you're his mum and you know him best.

Thank you all - I will hit all the Thanks buttons when I'm at home with a speedier connection! ;)

I know I was singing the praises of the TT CTN hand pump the other day but I've had a go with the hospital electric pumps now - can't remember who makes them.. begins with M, have seen them advertised in magazines too - and they're ace! Rhys is now up to 8ml feeds every hour.. couldn't keep up with a hand pump :(

I'm so sorry the news isn't better, Elle. I think all you can do at the moment is to take things day by day, or hour by hour, and see how things play out. There are many of us on here thinking about you all the time, and sending you prayers, good vibes, warm wishes, and whatever else good can be sent by thought waves.

Sometimes doctors give the worst case scenario when talking to parents, so that if the unthinkable happens it doesn't come as a complete bolt out of the blue. I hope that's what's happening here, and that the final outcome is not as bleak as some of what has been said to you. There are a few of us on this thread with children with significant disabilities (I'm one) and as awful as it is when you are first told that there is a problem with your child, the love you feel for them does not diminish, and the care they need becomes normal over time. The shock is that the child you end up with is not the child you dreamed of taking home, and sometimes life has to change dramatically when you did not expect it to (for me, I gave up a career I thought I loved without a second thought to care for my child, and have never gone back to work) but most of us look back and say it was all worth while.

I do check in regularly to see how you and Rhys are bearing up.

    Warm love to you all.
