welcome to the newbies! and huge congrats jha...glad to hear it's good news.
I read this thread at work, but am careful to keep it minimised so no one can guess what I'm doing! Along those lines, we are waiting until after the 12 wk scan (or whatever, since it's clearly NOT going to be 12 wks) or POSSIBLY if we can find the HB on our home doppler, whichever comes first to tell ANYONE. This is our 1st pregnancy, so of course all the MC stats terrify me.
Also we have agreed it's only fair to tell the parents/families first and then move onto friends, work, etc. I'm really itching that that scan date isn't too delayed, because at 10+3 now, the secret's really starting to weigh heavily!
When we 1st found out, the 1st couple weeks seemed to take AGESSSSSSSS to pass, but now I find myself already at double digits, which is a happy thought. It's honestly much easier if you don't count the days, because by the time you know it, it'll be the next trimester!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

ooh just remembered my MW is supposed to call me today with the results of my thrombo-wotsit test I had last week.
Just checked and my blood count in april was 11.2 not too far off double what urs were post birth nicki
I'm going to obsessively eat lots of red meat and green veg post birth because I know I was really pale after I had Chris and didn't feel like eating properly which just made it worse *slaps own wrist* I know I'm not going to be able to get the sleep I had last time as Chris is awake for 12hrs a day and can't be trusted to sit and not get up to no good for 30mins.0 -
Ohh I didnt tell work until I was 13 weeks, took scan pic in everyone was v v happy for us, but not very surprised even though I spoke quite openly about how we never wanted children (this was an accident). But now I love it, I've only just taking congratualtions well, and starting to feel excited when telling people, which is bad it has taken me ages to come round, and hubby as well who is now excited, and even took an interest in prams and clothes..Received £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j
Received £1400 charges - 2006:j0 -

I promise you the second trimester flies by! I can't believe I am four weeks away from my 20 week scan (will actually be 21 weeks). We told family at 8 weeks after an early scan, but didn't tell anyone at work or friends until 12 weeks. It feels crazy now that everyone knows!
Just looked at my booking in bloods and ferritin was 9, which I guess is low.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Hi all
We're seeing nurseries today - and one of them we're unlikely to get a place at even though Cub wouldn't be starting til next April! Scary stuff. The cost is eye watering too, have been playing with my beloved spreadsheet but maybe ignorance is bliss!
Fancy baking today, well, supervising DH as he is the official cake baker in the prideI love maple syrup so we're doing maple and pecan cake and cookies - yay!

Nice to see you here Nottslass. I've been waiting patiently for you!
The info on iron supplements is really interesting. I've just googled what the normal iron levels should be, as when I left hospital after I had number 2, mine were 6.5 and my GP was absolutely horrified I hadn't been given a blood transfusion. Now I know what the normal levels are, I can understand why! I was given a few weeks worth of iron tablets but not told I needed to take them for 3 months plus. I also bled for 6 months after the birth, though not very heavily, and that's normal for me. Perhaps with hindsight it isn't all that surprising that about 10 months after the birth, whilst still breast feeding and looking after 2 children under 2, I collapsed and was very seriously ill for a long time afterwards! I think this time round I might actually ask what my levels are after each blood test, rather than just relying on them to tell me if they think there's a problem...
Hi nicki,I've finally made it over !!!!
Re your iron levels when I had DS mine was 8.2 and I felt like death ( and I did for many months) and when I ended up in hospital a couple of years ago due to bleeding caused by a fibroid My levels were 7.2 but I did have a blood transfusion and it made my recovery a lot quicker !!!!!
TBH I'm surprised you managed to stand up with a level of 6.5 !!!!0 -
Hi All
I havent even tried to catch up on the last fortnight but just thought i'd let you know that both me and Rose were discharged from hospital yesterday. She was born by emergency section at 31 + 6 and was 4lb 4ozs. She is two weeks old today.
We have had quite a rough 2 weeks but have to be so grateful that is was only 2 weeks as im well aware it could easily have been so much longer.
She is now being fully breast fed and seems to be doing well.
I'll try to fill in the gaps and post a piccy soon but she is so beautiful xDS Anthony Steven 07.06.92DD Becky Emma 24.01.94DD Rose Grace Jean 12.05.090 -
