i've finally caught up after a day off! Has taken me ages! Will answer a few peeps first then tell you my news (lots of it!).DH has mentioned the idea that maybe we should think about getting a microwave before this baby is born. His idea being that with 2 little ones to look after (newborn and then 3yo), it might be a good idea to think about cooking some meals ahead (or extra like when we make lasagna) and reheating in micro some nights to save time. Who here has a micro or doesn't and is it a "must-have" item for you? Still thinking about it......
I have a microwave but was seriously thinking of getting rid of ti as I never use it - OK, sometimes I use it to defrost something but usually I just get stuff out in advance and I heat things up on the hob or in the oven.
I haven;t got rid because people said I'd want it whern I have the baby so we are seeing how we go but if I don;t use it for the baby then I am going to definitely get rid as I have a tiiiiny kitchen and there is no room for stuff.
The Emma-Jane tights! I've test three pairs so far. The first pair were lovely and I really liked them, but yesterday I went to put on one of the non-Emma-jane ones (foreign ones with weird little label only) and I couldn;t get them on! I'm not a big girl at all (still a size 10) so I had another go and managed to haul them up my legs only to find they were so tight round the thigh I actually had a double-thigh effect, and the bump bit was too big.
I took them off and didn;t even wear them as they were so awful, and put another EJ pair on which I did wear but they were horrible - looked and felt like cheap policewoman/traffic warden tights and snagged before I even got downstairs.
I have another three pairs to go but at this rate most of them will end up in the bin which is such a waste.
WELCOME to csh.
My news.
OK, non-PG stuff first. OH and I had tickets to see QI last night so we took two friends and went into London which is 50 miles from here and when we got there it turned out they weren;t really tickets, they were first-come first-served and we didn;t get in! That's the edited version cos I have been so cross about it. I couldn;t have stood in a queue for three or four hours to try and get in even if we'd known, but if we had known they weren;t really tickets we would never have gone! Was really rubbish.
And yesterday I saw my GP for a routine checkup. Should really have been the MW according to the NICe guidelines but she insisted I see the doctor instead
So. I dipped my wee sticks and all was fine, then he did my blood pressure and it was 120/63, which seems OK until you realise at the beginning of the pregnancy it was 90/60, but he still said it was OK even though I was worried about it being high. Last time it was 100/50. If anyone knows what any of these numbers mean I'd love to know!
Anyway, he then got me lying down to feel bump. H never measure fundal height but as he was feeling I could see him hesitate, and then he said 'how many weeks are you again?' so I told him 30/31 depending on whose date you use and he went 'hmm'.
So now I was worried and said I know bump is small, and we are a small family, but was everything OK. He stood thinking for a bit then felt my ankles and asked about swelling.
I don;t have any, but obviously he was thinking pre-eclampsia.
Then he decided he wants me to see the MW in three weeks as booked, then see him the week after and tell him what she thinks, and then they may send me for a scan to see if the baby is growing right
So now I'm all worried and would just like a scan now! Baby is moving loads and the heartbeat is strong so it's probably OK but I'd like to know now not in four weeks!
On a positive note he said I can be tested for Strep B and thrush at the wellwoman clinic so I go in two weeks to have swabs done. I do like my GP!
But after the growth discussion he started to say that maybe I should think about the possibility of not having a HB, just in case something happens. He meant in case of transfer, but I am thinking maybe he thinks something will be wrong and I will have to have emergency C-section?
Have had a big cry about it this morning as OH seems unconcerned and isn;t supportive really, not in the way I need, but hopefully you ladies will be!
If anyone can help me understand whether my blood pressure is high (for me) or OK, and what I need to look out for for pre-eclampsia and anything else that might be wrong that would be good. I like to feel prepared and then if anything happens I can call my GP immediately.
Hope everyone else is OK and labour vibes to those who need them! :A:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

ooh get you! I take it this is where my PCT are saving money then
Did she ask that you make sure they have a surface like a changing table/chest of drawers near to a plug in case they need to do some re-sus, and for weighing etc?0 -
Skinty this may help with what the numbers mean
What do the numbers mean?
Every blood pressure reading consists of two numbers or levels. They are shown as one number on top of the other.
The first (or top) number is your systolic blood pressure. It is the highest level your blood pressure reaches when your heart beats.
The second (or bottom) number is your diastolic blood pressure. It is the lowest level your blood pressure reaches as your heart relaxes between beats.
Blood pressure readings explained
TBH I wouldn't worry if he didn't even measure ur bump to get an idea of the actual size, I mean if you try to hold ur fingers 30cm apart can you do it accurately?
If you want to you could measure ur own fundal height, I'll go find the link I have with a how-to...
EDIT Fundal height link http://www.gestation.net/fetal_growth/fhm.htm
Try to measure it when lay with your shoulders slightly raised, That is how I've always been measured, if you are lay completely flat you will prob end up measuring about 3cm smaller than you actually are0 -
not at all sami not even once she seemed happy we have beanbags so i have something to prop my back up ...
