  • Make ice cream.
Use an electric whisk at whip the milk up til its thick and creamy. Add sugar (as much or as little as you like). Give it another wee whip then transfer into a canister and shove in the freezer..... lovely!!!

When I was a lad we always used to have it poured over tinned fruit.

  • Yes I remember Sunday teatimes with tinned fruit and evap milk.
I still love it with tinned peaches.
Don't have it with tinned pineapple though. The pineapple juice makes the evap milk curdle and separate -yuk.

If I have leftover evap milk I usually use it up as part of the milk for a rice pudding.

    Hi there,

If you have any fresh bio yogurt (natural), then blob a large teaspoon into a container and pour the rest of the evap. milk over it. Cover it and put it somewhere warm (where you would normally prove bread), and by tomorrow you will have delicious thick and creamy yogurt.

    Yum!

Good point, I'd forgotten about that. I suspect I'm a little odd in that I quite liked it that way!

I've just made some mango pudding and have got half a tin of evaporated milk leftover.....what can I do with it?

I usually make cheesecake with it but don't really fancy that and don't like having it over tinned fruit, lol. Any ideas?
I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....

Make chai - simmer the evaporated milk, a tea bag, some water, some cinnamon sticks and cloves. Lovely drink :)
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

You can also use it in quiche if it's not sweetened - makes it nice and creamy
