Agree with Sterling_Geezer - dentist would be better than doctor, they have more in depth knowledge.

(BTW Sterling_Geezer I think you should have 'practitioner' not 'practioner' under your picture!)

Thank you all. I have an appointment for Monday morning! ;D

I wasn't worried, more thinking "oh I expect some friendly MSE will know whether I should do something about this or not." And I will try not to start worrying now after all your cheerful comments!

Mind you when you already know you have a benign (probably) brain tumour they're going to chop out at some point and you can't walk in a straight line either as a result or for some completely unrelated but as yet undiscovered reason, worrying about tiny white spots on your gum does get pushed down your priority list!

I'll let you know how I get on!

That's OK traf, apart from anything else I know everyone means well!!!

And bargain bunny, my 'babies' are now 12, 15 and 17 ;D - those last two both taller than me :( - so no chance of free teeth fixes. I hope people don't mind me contributing to baby threads, sometimes it still seems like yesterday!

hello, just came across this post, im a dental surgeon so will give my advice hoping it helps you.

the lump under the gum, if discharging fluid will most likely be a sinus which is an exit route for an abscess which has occurred under that tooth. Seeing that it is draining it is unlikely to cause too much pain but the surgeon should take a x-ray to rule this out. Is this is the case you will need root canal treatment on that tooth to save it. If you have had a previous root treatment on that tooth then it either needs redoing or if you don’t mind you can loose the tooth.

the white lump mite also be something as trivial as an ulcer, but seems unlike given the time it has been visible for.

other more sinister possibilities are very very very unlikely.

If it is a draining abscess also ask for some antibiotics for the xmas period (just incase you need them, you can use them), as if you have pain during this time you can use them as would be a nightmare to try to find someone, and if you did then most would give you them to tie you over untill the new year.

    anyway do keep us posted.

    hope this helped.
