I know 3 network do a zero tolerance thing whereby you can't go over your monthly mins/text allowance - why don't orange do the same/similar? Okay, so you can check your account online, but not everyone has time to regulary check this..... I know I don't.

Surely you mean that 3 allow you to set a credit limit of £0 - won't Orange do that?

It is not their fault that you 'dont have time' to keep tabs on your usage, why should they if you can't be bothered yourself?

Because Orange obviously ARE keeping a tab on your usage, for the purpose of billing you!

It would cost them nothing to automatically send a text message saying... "only a quid left in credit, dude! Please top up!"

There we see Orange's chief motive for NOT telling you that you are nearing your limit! They get to whack a huge billing surcharge on you when the limit is exceeded!

    Nasty!

I think it is quite clear thats not what I meant. The OP sounds like they want Orange to alert them when they are reaching the end of their inclusive minutes etc. Why should they if the customer can't be bothered to check themselves?

I don't see what a PAYG analogy has to do with it.

Hmm so lets say they let you set a credit limit of £0. You use all your inclusive minutes so you have to ring up to ask for them to change the credit limit. Who does this for the customer? Extra staff that have to be paid for.

Besides, I don't actually see the point in having a contract phone if you want to be cut off when you have used up all your allowance. It is nothing more than glorified PAYG.

That's what the OP is asking, why the don't if Three do?

To the OP, have you asked Orange to set a limit on your bill? If they don't and you're at the end of your contract, you should consider leaving to Three.

If the OP has rung up Orange and asked about a "zero tolerance not being able to go over your inclusive minutes policy" then they either said 'no' or 'I have no idea what you are talking about'. If the OP asked if they could set their credit limit to £0 they may have got a more useful answer. Therefore my post was helpful. If I roll my eyes will I look as clever as you?

You need to lose the attitude mate.

If you read the post you originally posted, you said 'It is not their fault that you 'dont have time' to keep tabs on your usage, why should they if you can't be bothered yourself?' I'm glad you find that a 'helpful' post.

Read it in context 'mate'. It was a reply to the OP stating that they don't have time to check their usage as you can very well see, 'mate'.

I've never seen so much animosity between 'mates' before... :)

This got me thinking about the 3G data connections.. All http traffic will pass through a web proxy like squid. Squid can be used to automatically re-direct a surfer to a personalised page where the user can be warned of low credit, etc..

We had a play with doing this just for a joke.. if anyone tried to visit a sexy website, the proxy server automatically re-directs the surfer to Ann Widdecombe's home page. I bet she's never had so much traffic.

What is your problem? I was only asking to see if anyone knew why Orange didn't offer this service too, and yes I have asked for your information.

If you've got nothing helpful to say, then don't say anything at all.
