No, they don't. Best way to double check is a secure message to them.

I tried to use my Birthday BT this week and think we have been slightly misguided? I had credit on my card - couple of pounds - and asked to Transfer £6000, which is my card limit. It would not let me do this online so I phoned them. They too failed and offered to investigate and call me back the next day. True to their word they did and the outcome was a BT of £5700 - as they could not get the computer to realise I was an existing customer. As a new customer I am allowed 95% of my limit.

    Hope this useful to someone,
    Daf

    So in a nutshell?????
If I apply for an eggcard and don't spend on it I can make a balance transfer for the first 5 months, repay the minimum repayments for that duration then pay back the full amount, and do exactly the same a year after that and a year after that (just using it for BT's and not spending) then that's a boon for me???? Or do I need to read the article a few more times?
I am not sure that's a fact. i have an Egg card. Applied for a BT and was told there is a 2% transfer fee!!!!! Has anyone else encountered this?

Depends when you signed up for the card. The T & C's for new customers changed on 1/5/05 and they now apply a 2% (capped at £50 I think) charge to new customers only (for now?).

Edit: sorry Mary (must learn to type faster!)

Everyone should be aware that the anniversary balance transfer deal only applies in the month of the anniversary - if you do a balance transfer too late then they put it at the full amount and as per usual make you pay off the cheapest debt first - I've just made this mistake - Doh! So just thought I'd try and warn others - the theiving fatherless swines!

  • Watch out if you are using Egg's anniversary 5 month 0% BT offer and then repeatedly super balance transfer to rotate debt into new non-SBT cards. Egg have changed their Terms so you can only balance transfer at 0% during the first month of the anniversary period. If you do it again after then they sting you!
  • Last month was my anniversary month so i balanced transfered in £2500 onto my zero balance, with the idea of clearing it before the 0% finishes. today, egg have sent me an email with the following offer :-
"As an Egg Card customer you are occasionally entitled to special existing customer rewards. This e-mail is to tell you that if you spend £50 or more on your Egg Card between now and 30 September 2005, we'll credit your account with £10. And we'll put the money in your account by 30 November 2005*. "

This doesn't sound that good an offer as i'll be paying interest on that spend over £50, which will make the 'FREE £10' soon disappear !

Has anybody else had this offer ? am i correct in thinking its a duff deal ?
  • I Cancelled An Egg Card In Aug 04. Any Idea How Long Until I Can Apply For Another And Do They Still Offer Super Balance Transfers?

I would have thought you could apply now, but why not check with Egg? Yes they still do SBT's, but with a 2% fee capped at £50 on the Egg Green.
