Car boot sales in Edinburgh?

I'm not from Edinburgh but was up there visitiing recently and went to the one at Greenside and it was great! Bought loads of stuff - mainly toys for our kids group. It was SO busy though. Great idea not to let anyone leave before 1pm. The ones round here, if you don't get there by 11am at the latest, half the stalls have gone. There will always be:
A “LIE” in BELIEVE, an “OVER” in LOVER, an “END” in FRIEND, an “US” in TRUST , and an “IF” in LIFE0 -
If you are selling at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange Chesser car boot sale, beware of two stout Scottish men who will approach you before you set up. They may direct you to your space or help you with your table, and give the appearance of working there. The bald one will ask you for jewellery, ornaments, train sets, figurines, china, etc. The bespectacled one will ask you for mobile phones, dvds, laptops, etc. You will get better prices if you do not sell to them.
Thanks for your warning. I was selling at Chesser today and was approached by the same men. I told them I didn't have the stuff they were asking for..After they had moved on to other sellers I took the stuff out and got good prices. :T I wonder why the organisers have not removed them.0 -

The Greenside one is indoors and far busier than the Chesser one which is outdoors. However, some people complain about the stale air/car fumes.
Some seller's tips:
Don't give everything to the first persons who ask you (see post #83 above) as they will be dealers who will rip you off so that they can resell. Don't let the dealers rummage through your car boot or your stuff before you unpack as they will get damaged or stolen.
Try to have at least two people manning your stall as stuff gets nicked. Guard your cash float.
It's easier to bring your own pasting table so that you don't have to hire one as they often run out when busy. Pack your table last so that it will be the first thing you unpack from your car.
Hope this helps.:)0 -

Does anyone know if you can take two cars into the Greenside one and unload but only keep one car inside and therefore only pay for one pitch? My friend and I have a few larger items to take but would not like to have to pay £30 to sell!0

I doubt they'd do that as they would be losing out of £15. No harm in asking though xx0/2013

I just returned to Edinburgh after been away for 4 years. I tried to visit the car boot sales that I used to love and was shocked to find them all gone!0
