Years agi there used to be a market/car boot sale near the airport at Edinburgh. Is that still there? Or is there any other large car boot/market on sundays please?
    Thanks
Been closed since 2005 - too many dodgy goods being sold

Im pretty certain theres a car boot sale on Sundays next to the Omni Centre.

Anyone know if this is correct? If so, what times/how much do they charge etc.

Or is the Greenside one still open  - a lot of details on this thread are a bit out of date.

I'm hoping find somewhere this weekend to get rid of loads of stuff.

I found this on a google search
    Car Boot Sale
NCP Car Park, Greenside Place, Greenside Row, Leith Street, Edinburgh
every Sunday from 9am to 1pm
    Tel 0131 319 2005

At least there's a phone number that you can check. If I remember rightly with this one, you have to stay until after 1 as there's no way you can move your car.
So little money - so much time

Well, we went to the Omni centre car park boot sale this morning, some info for anyone else thinking of going:

It's on every Sunday 9am-1pm on level 4 of the car park

Sellers can get in from 7am, but can't set up till 8.30am (they sound a horn lol):D

Costs £15 for a single space (no large vans or trailers)

Tables and rails for hire (£3 per item, £7 deposit)

No one can leave before 1pm (again, they sound a horn when you can go)

It was fairly busy, we made over £200 so it was well worth the bother. :T

Thanks for the info. We were thinking about doing this today but didnt feel organised enough. Can you tell me what time did you have to be there for? It use to be that you had to be up really early, is this still the case? Also in the main what were you selling? general bric a brac? clothes? books? We have loads of books to get shot off and quite a number of toys.

We went there for 8am. Not allowed to set up till half past, so we had a flask of tea with us to occupy ourselves. :D I reckon a little before that would be a better time though - we were towards the end of the row, and further up would have caught more people.

We were selling baby clothes/items, boxed toys and some bric a brac. Books were hard to get rid of. DVD's were gone pretty quick.

I would say it's definitley worth a go - we had never been to one before, and any money you make over the £15 entry makes it worth the effort.

other info about this car boot sale:

nearest toilets are in the st james shopping centre but only when it is open - before that you can go to the public one in the corner of cathedral lane and St James Place.
Last time I went (December 2007) a guy from the council came to open them at 6 of 7 am, can't remember.

regarding not being able to set up before 8am, this including not allowed to open the boot to shuffle around your things, or taking your own table / rail out to set them up.

If you go at 5am there will be alreadu a few cars waiting! ;)
Plus there is at least one car inside the car park that seems to be always parked inside 24/24...a dirty 4x4 ... I wonder how come it can still stay inside, and is not considered some security issue. I supposed when they want it out they just have to say they lost the ticket and pay the amount for lost ticket...

In the car park, make sure to find a spot with good light, I noticed (while shopping) a couple of areas where the lightening was not so good but maybe there were some bubls not working that day.

Anyone know of any school or church car boots in the Edinburgh area coming up?

I would prefer these as they are generally for shorter periods and cheaper!
