  • If you have oily skin, you can make it nice and matt by applying milk of magnesia - just wipe it over the oily areas, let it dry, then rinse off.

I can also recommend this website: https://www.cosmeticscop.com - a great debunker of cosmetics industry spin and deception!

bit pressed for time so not goin to read the whole thread, hopefully these are not repeats of whats been said already
use both sides of the cotton wool ball/pad when removing makeup
cut open tubes to get the last out of them - face masks, cream, foundation
apply foundation using a brush as it looks better and u will use less
stay away from metallic nail varnish as it doesnt last and will need reapplying more often
dirty hair, that is not washed for a day, curls easier if u r using tongs, rollers etc...
rimmel do three in one things for cheeks lips and eyes and they actually DO work!
one of ny late Nanna's favourites - if you have a night out go into boots to get a few squirts of a posh perfume. Her favourite was chanel no. 5!
I would say have a body shop party because i recently hosted one and i got £32 worth of products free!!!:)

I can't drink caffine after 4pm in the afternoon, as it turns me into a non-sleeping, hyperactive, waffling idiot! In fact, rather like a toddler!!! :o :-[

In the evenings at this time of year though it is lovely to have a warm cup of tea/coffee after dinner. Decaff isn't all it's cracked up to be so that's when I became hooked on peppermint tea.

It's great for the digestive system, is very soothing and has become part of my nightime routine. ANother bonus is that it definately helps eliminate a hangover if you drink it when you get home from the pub! ::)

Redbush tea is also really nice. You can drink it with milk, and it doesn't really taste "herbal".. I dunno, it's hard to describe! It's caffeine-free and has less tannin than normal tea, and is high in antioxidants.

I have just read this and wonder if any of us do it/would do it/ think it unwise or strugglewith the tweezers, wax etc.
The cheapest and best way to remove hair from the upper lip: Shave it! No kidding, I have been doing this for years. I swear to you, it does not make your hair grow back thicker. If this myth were true, men who have been shaving for over 20 years would just have one big hair growing out of their face! Waxing and bleaching were too irritating for my skin, so I just grabbed my husband's electric shaver one day. The advantages to shaving are that you don't have to let it grow back in between treatments as with waxing, and the hair is removed completely making make-up application smoother (unlike with bleaching). It is also gentle on your skin. I just shave it once or twice a week (it grows in very slowly), and my upper lip always looks good. If you are currently bleaching or having your lip professionally waxed, this could save you a lot of money over the years.

But it does make it more stubbly as shaving blunts the end of the hairs so you no longer have the fine tips on it. I tried it and immediately regretted it when I felt the stubble

Yes don't think I fancy it either, just wondered how others cope with the problem. Us poor women have a lot to put up with, I hate doing my legs, hence wear a lot of trousers. Both my daughters get their legs bikini line eyebrows done regulary, apart from not liking the pain the cost of this makes it not an option for me.

just wanted to thank everyone for their tips in this thread... for days (perhaps weeks) I have reminded myself in the shower that when I get out I must post as ask for tips for cheap exfoliators and face masks.

of course, by the time I've finished showering, dried, dressed etc the thought is a million miles away

just by accident I came this direction (to depress myself on how well everyone else is doing in the grocery shopping money saving thing - just cannot get OH on board with this, still its only month one and I guess its a trial this month to see how much we do actually spend) and saw this thread!!!!!!!!!

    thanks peeps :j

Yes! ... especially those of us who are very dark-haired

I used to use a depilatory cream, Nair I think, on my upper lip but then for some reason developed a sensitivity to it and came up in red blotches

Now I use a pair of tweezers and do it at the same time as my eyebrows ;)

Legs, underarms etc I use a man's razor (Mach3) when I can be bothered, as no one ever sees me but me LOL! ... but then I panic over what happens if I have an accident and need to go to hospital with hairy legs, and out comes the razor :rotfl:

I've been tempted to try the new Veet bladeless razor system (and it's on offer at Tesco atm) but my past attempts at using the old Immac were never very successful, especially on my legs, so not sure if it's worth paying the money for. I'm too chicken to go for waxing

C-Q Mac blades are so expensive I get my blades from Hypervalue and all those removal creams give me rashes so I've given up on them too
