Corn Beef Hunt

I'm not ashamed to say that I am a devotee of canned Corn Beef - however of late I have noticed that the price of it has increased so much that it is double what it was two years ago. ie a 340 gm can costs 78p as opposed to 35p in 2004. By this I mean Asda Smart Price or budget versions from Aldi Lidl or Netto. It's curious that as soon as one store increase price they all follow suit very quickly. What do they call this "profit damage control"?
If anyone sees a store that still sells at 58p or less can you post a reply.
Why Corn Beef? its lean (remember the Fray bentos ads from 20 years ago?), it has a long shelf life and it can be used as an alternate for mince. But also it is or was a cheap methof of adding beef to the menu.
Look forward to comments

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, corned beef hash, corned beef and tomato sandwiches, corned beef with extra corned beef.......
My mouth is watering already. I love it.

(PS - I guess Aldi/Lidl/Netto wouldn't stock it - not really a German delicacy, is it? I'll look, next time I'm in though.)0 -
Corned beef is one of the few products where I think the cheap varieties are best avoided. The more expensive ones are generally significantly better.

Urgh I hate corned beef - ever since I was a poor student, bought some cheap corned beef from Netto's, opened the tin to make a hash and it had the hugest beige vein in it - yuck. Now I refuse to eat most things like that - spam, beef, pek etc. I won't even eat packaged ham as I feel ripped off with Gillian McKeith saying it's all salt and water!0

I was just about to say that I got Metero (or whatever it's called) for 39p in Tesco, but have now checked and it's disappeared!!!"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0
