Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 13th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning. All is well here, a little cloudy with the threat of rain. I have a few days off now, which was not expected due to the court trial. But I won, I guess, as the offender pleaded guilty on the day, so no trial. He is now spending some time in Exeter Prison. One less rapist on the streets.

So what to do for 5 days..... I added the weekend off for good measure. Plenty of garden to sort out, ebay stuff if it rains, and fix and tidy. I will have to stain the windows again as I don't think they will be replaced. I had the Everest man here yesterday as " they were in the area offering deals" 6 windows and a door, guess how much? £17,000 :rotfl::rotfl:
The monthly payments at 25.9% apr were more than my mortgage. They might be better windows, but I could buy a nice boat for that and another can of Ronseal.

Car is off for it's superservice today, one job I don't want to do although I could have done some of it. Sometimes moneysaving is not always the easiest way. Time saving also plays a part.

Have a nice day, cheers

Wow N9eav thats expensive - do you own a castle? :rotfl:

Overcast looking here and lots of rain forcast, at least its good for the veggies and the lawn which is already looking a bit yellow.

Just had to dispose of a medium sized spider from the bathroom, any bigger and I would have had to shut the door and forgo my bath  pathetic I know but I have a real phobia.

Popping out first thing this morning to take a couple of returns to next, need to get a birthday card and a couple of bath bars from Lush, wont be spending much but will treat myslef to a mocha using my starbucks card as I will then get free cream, still waiting for my free drink voucher to arrive.

Have a hopi ear candle booked today which is a treat but also really good for my hayfever sinus' - really looking forward to that.

Cheap and cheerful macaroni cheese for dinner, nice and easy oh will have egg and chips as he is not keen. Dont know what else os today but did put soda crystals down the plugholes yesterday and cleaned my iron with vinegar.

Off for a surf round mse now, have a lovely day.

    Morning everyone,

It's been a bit chillier here in the mornings lately but still warm during the day. Got an email from DD today. She's in Suva atm. Having a lovely time on the cruise & really enjoying herself. I did a few odds and ends today. Sorted out the toy boxes & also some boxes downstairs I still hadn't unpacked when we moved. Wheelie bin now full.

I must be in a throw out mood as I cleaned up the filing cabinet. DH wants to go through it all before shredding  just in case. Off for the day tomorrow to see DSis. I've got some money for Mother's Day so I want to look for a new pair of sunglasses. My pair are pretty scratched. I've had them for 3 years so done pretty good considering.

Beemuzed Sorry for your pain & sadness. Must be terrible for you.xx
Essexgirl You should see the size of some of the spiders here. I swear to God my heart has stopped beating. :D Let us know how your ear thing goes?

Well I better get tea organised. Veggie Lasagne tonight. <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning everyone.
N9eav - £17K? For Windows? What were they, gold plated?!!!
Essex-girl - am exactly the same regarding "beasties" (can't use the S word as I don't want my 3 year old ended up being as wimpish as me). Very small ones I can cope with but I am afraid they all die. I am not one to "save" them and put them outside. Sorry but there are enough beasties out there already (lurking in my shed :( ) so I am not going to add any more to the population.
Weather cloudy with a little breeze so I suspect the rain won't be far away.
Hmmmm OS? The veggie chilli I did yesterday in the SC was delish! Going to have a make shift for tea tonight (sorry looking at that it just sounds weird but it's what we call having something like beans on toast etc).
Have no treats in the house so might cook some Twinks hobnobs BUT they are lethal for my weight because I eat them all. Anyone got a will power of iron I can borrow?
I keep saying I must do some cleaning but have been so tired due to DD I just can't be bothered. Been awake from 5am as she was making noises. Had dropped off around 6.15am and then woken at 6.30am by DS stomping into our bedroom. Sleep? hah it's for wimps!

Have a good day all, OS or not.

    Morning all

Wet and drizzily here, still not to worry I am off to work, I made a pasta bake yesterday which is in the fridge for tonights dinner, will do salad with it.
Yesterday we had a chicken casserole, (my mums recipe,) but I have taken to adding red lentils to it, and they make a huge difference to the flavour :T, and for pennies.

Need to have a quick tidy round this morning, rubbish and garden recycling to go out.

Beemuzed, hugs to you sweetie xx

Squiggly, where are you ??? hope all is ok xx

N9eav, that is a huge amount for double glazing, I am sure you could get it cheaper, I got 10 windows and 2 doors for under £3 k by talking them down :D

Ok better get on, have good days all.

I left ds "minding" a huge spider on the stairs yesterday while I went to fetch the spider catching kit (a glass and a piece of cardboard). When I returned, ds was still standing where I'd left him, but the spider was gone, and ds claimed not to have seen it walk away....

Managed to catch an even bigger one last night in the downstairs toilet, so honour was restored :rotfl:

Take care all of you and have a good day. I'm off to stinky work in a minute.

Good morning everyone  My baby girl (well she's 16, but still my baby :p ) leaves school today; all year 11 are wearing bunches, [STRIKE]even [/STRIKE]especially the boys :rotfl: Where did the last 16 years go  She's off to the cinema and a pizza with her friends tonight, before knuckling down to get on with exams. I (finally) booked for the 2 of us to have 3 nights in Venice when they're over (midweek, so she can be eating ice cream in the sun and imagining her brother in school :rotfl: )

I have our Scout AGM this evening, and I've been asked to stand in for the next 6 months as District Chair. This is a huge honour for me, but I'm very intimidated by what it might entail  They say it will only be temporary, so I've said 6 months, max :D

Beemuzed - hugs for you and yours.

Old Style jobs before I head off to work:
    • Flylady list
    • tidy kitchen
    • shopping list
    • order Tesco tokens - they've brought back the half price wine vouchers  and Cineworld tiskets :j
Have a great day, Penny. x
:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:
  • Morning everyone - it's dull, wet and windy here today :(

Beemuzed - (((((hugs))))) for you - I lit a candle for you last night

Work today, and DD has Guides this evening. Dinner tonight will be meatballs and spaghetti - must remember to buy some parmesan cheese today.

Must wash the bedding, clean the bathroom and hoover the stairs when I get home from work.

DH has already left for work, DD is *cough* getting ready (no doubt procrastinating till I get upstairs ). Need to jump in the shower, don't think I'll bother drying my hair - doesn't seem worth it ;)

Can't quite believe the expenses row going on at the moment  Makes you wonder just how much of our money they have spent

Anyway better get to it - have a lovely Wednesday people :D
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

    Morning all

Work all day today but have just cooked some rice to fry up with onions, mushrooms etc tonight to have with some garlic chicken. I am so organised today (only today though :D)

Spiders, yeuchhhhh they give me the heebie jeebies. I am progressing though. I can actually be in the same room as one now without screaming and running away

PP - Remember helping out at the scouts with my 2 and going to the Lake District with them for a week one year. Great memories. Lots of hill walking though, try to blot those memories out as walking uphill is not my forte :o

Right better get lunch packed away for work etc etc

Have a good day all xxxx

    Morning all,

Well I still have a lot of things to list on eBay which needs to be done by tomorrow evening so I can up load them for ten days so that's my main job for today.

We have someone coming to view our house at 11am in view of renting it, so I need to run the Hoover round for that.

Food wise, I'm cooking chicken curry with rice for dinner, not sure what we are having for lunch as yet but I have some bread to use up so I suspect it will be some kind of sandwich.

    Have a lovely day everyone
