    Hi
I want to buy an ipod hi fi system at Mr T. If I were to pay at main till along with other grocery items can I assume vouchers can be used against total. Obviously I wouldn't have a huge grocery shop but have only used the vouchers against food shopping before so thought I'd check with you oh so knowledgable peeps!
    Thanks
I've bought books, cartridges , printer paper and clothes before now and used coupons without any problems....

In my experience it depends on the attitude of the store. Such as, if it is a store that is very happy to take all your coupons without giving you hassle then it would probably be okay so long as you don't make a habit of it. If it is a store that is changing the coupon policy all the time then I'd say definitely no!

I would agree with this. A nice SA at a nice store wouldn't have any problems at all putting through some coupons against an ipod (as long as there's a box, or card with the relevant barcode to scan at a normal till, before you then go the CS desk or electrical desk to collect it).

I bought an ipod using a few mocs to reduce the cost at Christmas. I deliberately bought it at the normal till then went to collect it. At the electrical desk they said 'you should have paid for it here, you could have checked the colour you want is actually in stock first'. 'No thanks', I replied, 'it was more important to me to put it through with my shopping as I had a Sainsburys conditional spend coupon to use and I didn't think you'd accept coupons & vouchers at this desk. I needed the ipod to make up the total spend at the till'.

It was a total fib about the conditional spend voucher but it's a white lie that works well if you are ever questioned at the electricals desk/pharmacy/clothing desk as to why you paid for an item with other shopping, rather than gracing their desk with your custom. Works every time and no-one ever checks the looooong moc-filled receipt for a £5 or £10 moc!:D:rotfl:

To sweetdreamer. Give it a go and if refused at a normal till, say 'oh I won't get the ipod this time then, I thought I could use coupons but if not I will do a price comparison first'. The next day, try again with another SA, then again next time you are shopping...etc., etc.:D

In the past I have bought an xbox360 and, another time, a PS2 console bundle at normal tills. You just get them to scan the empty box. I reduced the cost with about £20 in mocs - and then I went straight to the CS desk and claimed both consoles free under the old (now defunct) R&R price promise. Those were the days (this was separate occasions but at the same store!).

What a day!!! Rang the 0800 number this morning, which is not Dundee peeps, it's actually Cardiff, the address you write to is Dundee but they take the calls in Cardiff...I was told , not a problem all stores have had a letter, yes you can use the coupon. Was doing a Mystery Shop at Pizza Express in Stafford so rang Stafford Extra and asked if I presented the coupon , would it be taken without any hassle? Told her, Customer Services, said it would be OK and could she phone and check before I shopped there. Had a meal, very nice( hubby's birthday treat, even though a Mystery Shop) went to the store...no idea what I was talking about.Suggested she rang 0800 505555...she did , waited ages and eventually she was told , yes, to take it...she was still not happy and went away and asked someone else who said 'no' not until the weekend.....I took it back and said ...righto , I'm off to Asda( had Finish coupons to use, but weren't telling them that)...had terrible male SA in Asda who informed me that the coupons had been printed on my computer and he couldn't possibly take them...yes you can , ....no I can't...call your supervisor...yes she said take them if the customer has bought the products...had 8 Quantum, 1 cleaner , 2 Cif's and 2 Deli Wraps and was offering £1.90 cash...yes , he said to the supervisor she has the products , BUT, these coupons are printed from the internet...yes , take them, but he said , these coupons are printed off the internet....YES TAKE THEM !!! He then took them and gave me my cash back...no I said you take the cash it's for the difference...took my receipt and went...Aaaaarrggghhhh!!! first hassle I've had in Asda.
Got home and rang the 0800 number...arrogant little sod( male) told me more or less I had a nerve even asking if I could use them and no he didn't believe that any stores had taken them..and he would ring one I told him , that I knew ( from here) that had taken them...he said I'll ring them 'cos I don't believe you...and then cut me off...rang back and asked for address to write and complain about him( name of Guy) and got nice bloke called Will who said yes all stores should take tem no probs , although he understood some were being overrrun with them and would stop taking them after reaching a certain quota!!! So how do i know which stores these are...I asked...sorry you won't until you get there....so still got 1 to use and got the Sun for next week...hope it's all sorted by tomorrow, when I migh shop again, or Friday when I will have to shop for the weekend......AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH !!!!
