Are you saying Tesco isn't independent? When was it nationalised?0

i always thought an independent store was one with only a few branches or when they are franchised so they are lots of little businesses
that way each store is independent of the others even if they are up and down the nation0 -

IMHO they (independents) are a notch apart (not saying whether better or worse!;)) from a company that has on it's web-site "Welcome to the website for Tesco plc, one of the world's leading retailers."
Also, IMHO, with nearly 4,850million votes cast for each resolution at their last AGM I'd say that meant that Tesco would not be classified (normally) as an independent store

If I was concerned about their independence, I'd be happy...it would mean I had nothing more important to be concerned about.....;)....I was merely helping a relative newbie with her answer.
You are absolutely correct though, Quentin, I understand that they do sell the magazine.
But IMHO it also answers the main part ofAre you saying Tesco isn't independent? When was it nationalised?
Anyhoo, it's been lovely chatting.....I'll be back tonight....just going to get the herbs and spices for dinner:cool:It's nice to be nice .....
