    I am sure you will enjoy your break from coupons, but if you still want to do it while you're away, let us know where you're going and perhaps the nice peeps on here will let you know if there is a coupon friendly Tesco in that area?;)

    Are you saying Tesco isn't independent? When was it nationalised?

    i always thought an independent store was one with only a few branches or when they are franchised so they are lots of little businesses
    that way each store is independent of the others even if they are up and down the nation

    IMHO they (independents) are a notch apart (not saying whether better or worse!;)) from a company that has on it's web-site "Welcome to the website for Tesco plc, one of the world's leading retailers."
    Also, IMHO, with nearly 4,850million votes cast for each resolution at their last AGM I'd say that meant that Tesco would not be classified (normally :) ) as an independent store

    Irrespective of your concern over whether or not Tesco is independent, that doesn't affect the fact that it sells easy living magazine, does it?

    If I was concerned about their independence, I'd be happy...it would mean I had nothing more important to be concerned about.....;)....I was merely helping a relative newbie with her answer.

    You are absolutely correct though, Quentin, I understand that they do sell the magazine.

    but it hasn't been nationalised, it is a PLC.

    Don't know if anyone has mentioned this before but if you email McCain customer relations (look on website) and tell them you would like a £10 booklet they will send you one in post. Just got an email from them.
