I suppose it doesn't matter but I don't want Tesco's knowing how I pay for my shopping, so I hand over my clubcard for scanning before I hand over my coupons (or cash:eek:) They do give points for newspapers.
I use my Tesco Credit card ...always hand that over first to be swiped, then coupons , then it's used to pay for my shopping...I love the extra points this credit card gives me..

Here is the email response I got from Head Office:

"I am sorry about the problems you have had regarding the acceptance of coupons at our Toton branch and I apologise for the inconvenience caused.

I can confirm that we do accept competitor conditional spend coupons and specifically that we are aware of the the £5.00 off £30.00 spend coupon for Morrisons that was in the Sun Newspaper and that we should be accepting this. I have confirmed this with our Customer Service Business Support team.

I must advise that the Store Manager has the ultimate discretion in the acceptance of any coupon should there be a problem. However, we are accepting the above coupon throughout the business and are unaware why there should be any problems regarding its acceptance. I have also asked one of my colleagues to contact the store to confirm that we should be accepting this coupon. "

I also telephoned and was told that if my store refused it they should phone customer service to check while I wait, and that they will be told to accept them.

By the time I use mine on Thursday/Friday hopefully the stores will know what they should be doing.

Bullshot - don't take their bull!!

I alternate between handing over my Tesco Credit Card and another Clubcard I keep with me. This seems to help with till splits as I get quite a few and duplicates of others, like 2 x 75 points of frozen food recently. I still pay with my Tesco Credit Card though, unless it's pennies :rotfl: but even then I was caught short once (of money, not the other :o) and paid 19p on my card no problem.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat :D

I telephoned and told them what happened to me at my Mr.T this morning, and the lady said I was correct that Mr.T does take the coupon, also she would go out lunch time and get the paper herself.....

After doing my shop handed over all my coupons as well as the £5 Sun one and it wouldn't scan..... went to CS desk had 4 staff umming and arrring will we wont, we take it....told them to ask the store manager and was told she was in a meeting... could I come back at the end of the week and the coupon situation would be resolved then...."NO I will not I want the fiver off now please". was nearly 20 minutes but the CS put the coupon on non-scan and I got a fiver in cash. Result.

Ok, i e-mailed Tesco asking what the policy was in my local store and this is the responce i got:

    Thank you for your email.

I have detailed below some information on the acceptance of coupons in our
stores which I hope will help you.

All Tesco specific coupons display the Tesco logo. We'll only accept these at
the till if you buy the product shown on the coupon at the time.

We're happy to accept a non-Tesco product coupon even if you don't buy the item.
But, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the product. If you present
more than one identical coupon you need to purchase the same number of products.
This also includes coupons printed from the Internet, but these will only be
accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager.

I hope this has helped to explain things for you.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

So does this mean i can hand over as many as i like, or should i still write to the store manager??
