I've still got an order that's been sat in picking and packing for a week! Not sure whether I'm going to get that one or not. I emailed them about it and they said I should do, unless it's been put there by mistake.

They seem to be dealing with the orders backwards - I've got one in P&P thats been there since day 1 of the sale.
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Has anyone else ordered the 24 Seasons 1 to 4 boxset and had problems with missing discs? I checked my individual boxsets this morning and typically am missing Season 2 Disc 6 and Season 4 Disc 5.

I've contacted Filmnight about the missing discs but I presume I'll have to send the entire boxset back, which is a bit of a pain. Just my luck ... At least I managed to get the boxset in the first place though!

The DVD I mentioned four posts ago is still sat in picking and packing! When I emailed I was told that I should get my DVD, as long as it wasn't put into picking and packing by mistake. Will just have to wait and see I suppose.

I got a reply from them about my 24 boxset with two missing discs and have been told to return it using freepost for a replacement boxset.

I don't understand why people are getting angry - it was a good sale, some people got stuff, some people didn't - just the way it goes.

If Virgin or HMV had a sale in the high street and you missed out on some bargains, would you be angry with that store for not having a large enough stock to satisfy everyone??

Fair play to filmnight in my opinion (and I also had lots of orders cancelled btw!)

You've totally missed the point of the complaints and your analogy is totally misplaced.

Say Virgin organised a sale and advertised, let's say, a Jaws DVD for 99p.

You turn up at Virgin and see posters in the window adevrtising Jaws at 99p.

You go into the store and see that the shelf label states that Jaws is priced at 99p.

You pick up a copy and take it to the till and as you are about to pay for it, you're told that despite the advertisements, despite the prices on public display, you actually have to pay £19.99.

    Would you be happy?

It's not the fact that they ran out of stock, it's the fact that people placed orders at a certain price and these prices were not honoured, despite the fact that stock was available.

If FilmNight was a company of any repute whatsoever, they would have taken this on the chin and satisfied a large number of customers by selling DVDs to them at a loss. By not doing this, they have come across as amateurish and more clueless than any market-stall trader I've ever seen.

Instead of having a large number of happy customers and a short-term dent in their books, they now have balanced books but a large number of people who will never even consider using them again as a point of principle.

In the overall context of the issues involved here, the 25% voucher is simply insulting.

Great post, I tried to explain this to Filmnight when I had orders placed and order numbers given but yet all of a sudden told sorry not enough stock. They tried to explain how their system was taking more orders than they had stock for but when i complained wasnt given any other explanation. I contacted them today about an outstanding order which they've now cancelled and offered a 10% discount on "non offer" dvds whoopdeedoo! I personally think this has been a disaster for Filmnight and unless they have a better sale with more stock coming up they will lose a lot of customers

I placed an order on Filmnight and a week later still had not received my order. Logged onto the Filmight website and it told me that my order had been cancelled.

I emailed them, and to their credit they replied within hours.

    Here is what they said...

    Dear Dr ********,
We are very sorry that your order has been cancelled (an E-mail should
have been sent, so our apologies as you obviously did not receive it),
unfortunately all items in our sale were limited stock availability and
had to work on a "first come first served" basis. Due to the huge
unexpected attention our sale has received throughout the U.K and
Ireland, hundreds of customers were ordering the same product at the
same time which unfortunately means that other customers such as
yourself have had to miss out. The reason products were still showing as
"in stock" on the website (even though they are not in the sale anymore)
is because they are in stock at our suppliers who despatch to us every
24 hours, but unfortunately we can not get any special deals on the
    prices for these anymore.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused, we understand how
frustrating this must be for you and apologise that we were unable to
    fulfil your order(s) this time.

    Best regards
    Filmnight.com customer services

    Hope that helps.

    Bob.

A lousy way to do business.
I tolerated the fact that when ordering they had sold out sale stock, meaning stuff went to back order, then cancel,
but one item sat at picking and packing over a week before being cancelled.
If it went to p&p what happened to it?
    Sod 'em.
