Yeah, how can they call it an Easter sale when we haven't even had Easter yet?!

Hi all... I'm glad lots of you have managed to get your DVDs from our Easter sale; I hope they're all ok.
Anyway, I've asked for some further feedback from the company about our promotional activities last week and I'm now passing on the information to you.

Our Easter Sale contained a huge range of genuine bargains because we are in the process of revising our inventory and distribution processes and we saw an opportunity to run a promotion offering titles at prices that in many cases could not be matched. We introduced some newer releases into the sale to generate a bit more interest.
The interest that was generated though was far greater than we anticipated, which has caused us a few challenges.

Products in the sale were offered subject to availability (this was stated on the original email we sent to our customer base and at the bottom of every sale page). As it was a genuine sale and generated such a high level of interest we have come across some orders that cannot be fulfilled due to the sale stock being exhausted. In those cases, although we could have just fallen back on the "subject to availability" line instead we have chosen to compensate customers with a discount voucher that can be used across our normal product range.
The sale was available online only - we did not accept telephone orders for sale items because it adds to the cost of sale of that item.

I hope that clears a few things up for you all

    Cheers

    Andrew

The voucher wasn't very good however. It was just one lot of 25% off only one order. I had about 9 items (9 separate orders) cancelled by Filmnight. Yet they only gave me one 'voucher' for 25% off for the whole lot. The items that I wanted were £2.95 each instead of about £15.99 - about 80+% off! So it was not much compensation at all really.

In fact if you take 25% off Filmnight.com prices, then of the ones I have looked at so far - all are still cheaper elsewhere!

The Filmnight pre-Easter sale has left me very angry with Filmnight.com. I certainly won't be using them again!

I don't understand why people are getting angry - it was a good sale, some people got stuff, some people didn't - just the way it goes.

If Virgin or HMV had a sale in the high street and you missed out on some bargains, would you be angry with that store for not having a large enough stock to satisfy everyone??

Fair play to filmnight in my opinion (and I also had lots of orders cancelled btw!)

I am angry because I had to stay up till 4am on the first Tuesday morning - just to get my orders in, only then to have them cancelled a couple of days later.

If I went to HMV or Virgin on the high street, and missed an offer, then I would know that I had missed it straight away. That is far better than thinking that you have secured an offer only to have it cancelled a couple of days later.

If you get a confirmation of an order, I don't really think that it should be cancelled a couple of days later. This, combined with poor communication, is in my opinion, unacceptable.

I think the problem is that DVDs where showing as in stock when they were not.

Anyone who made a big effort to get their orders in would be understandably annoyed to discover they were wasting their time - and of course would feel let down as they thought they had bagged a bargain.

I placed two orders (total of 5 dvd's), on the first order one of the dvd's went immediately to picking and picking whilst the other two went immediately to back order, the second order was for 2 dvds and these both went immediatley to pick and packing so although i am happy i received 3 of the 5 dvd's i really dont understand why over a week later my first order is still sat at back order when clearly from day one i wasnt going to get it
