Mmmm sounds delish! Might have to try this. does it not need a trivet? Someone once mentioned silver foil balls underneath? And does this work with legs and thighs?
    Thanks again!

No you don't need a trivet but I always add some water (about an inch) in the bottom as my SC says not to use without liquid.

Yes it works for legs and thighs... anything really!

  • Today's the day...lamb shank and veg in the SC! Will let you know how we get on.

Thanks for the ideas about the other meats. I've got a lovely chicken sat in the freezer, but never had the confidence to stick it in the SC. I'm fed up with seeing my electricity meter go into overdrive my my electric cooker is on. It always makes me feel so guilty about the amount of electric that I end up making roast tats, rice pud and a victoria sponge. I'm tyring to lose weight and all the extra calories aren't good!

  • Wow - it was amazing! The minty gravy coating cooked down into a lovely sauce and the meat fell off the bone. I thought it might be a bit greasy or fatty, but it was lovely.

2 defrosted lamb minty cheat shanks
    4 chunky cut carrots
    4 spuds into qrtrs
    1 large onion
    1 cup of water

Thrown in the SC for 7hours and it was perfect. Thanks for the other ideas, I've now got the confidence to try anything in the SC. Will be checking out the SC thread. Thanks

I don't like gloopy gravy with mine. Prefer to put some red wine in, and perhaps a little cornflour. The only thing I can think of is to add more cornflour?
  • do you mean the minted lamb shanks you get?
they are out of a packet and are microwaved a local butcher sold them for a few weeks once:(

usually I just bung some lamb stock cubes with water cornflour mint sauce and red currant jelly in then just add more cornflour until its as thick as I want it

They'd be lovely done in a moroccan way with rice :) Apricots, almonds, cinnamon will be good.

More suggestions in this thread; I'll merge this later.
