That's how I know it hasn't been done, the interior is not shining in the slightest and all previous marks are still there on a dull matt finish.
The exterior I have run my hand over earlier and it didn't feel the least bit glossy, in fact I can feel the roughness of the ingrained road dirt!!

Just done a test on the interior with water, not a bead in sight, soaked right in immediately!!!:mad:

Will be going back in the morning to challenge them on this again! But what can I do if they just stick their heels in and claim they have done it?!!
Show them the water bead, hopefully that should prove it. Did they show you that when they sold the cover to you? I've mystery shopped lots of car showrooms, and been shown this lots of times as part of the patter.

If they still say it's been done, then you need to contact trading standards. I would print off stuff from the net showing what the supaguard is meant to do, then they will know you have done your research. Good luck. Try not to let it spoil your lovely new car for you.
  • Take photographs. Now. Try to highlight the dust and grime all over the car. Photographs are cheap, take as many as you like, from all angles.

Then go to the dealer tomorrow and insist on a refund. Take no less. If they say no, its court-time.

Yes, they did demonstrate this to me and the leaflet says the exterior and interior will be given a showroom finish guaranteed for 3 yrs!.......Phuuufff, absolutely no change, the interior is marked and as dull as when I test drove it, even though it is generally in good condition, I was horrified when the water sank in so quickly without beading!! and the exterior is rough under the hand not glossy feeling as you'd expect if you'd just had a 'tough, high-gloss, deep transparent protective barrier' applied as claimed?!!

Supaguard doesn't clean the interior of the car. It won't shine. The outside will. Obviously they should be cleaning it inside and out first - I wouldn't have accepted a car that wasn't even clean!

The fact that it isn't beading is totally wrong. That is exactly what the product does. I had it on my last MINI and when my son spilt ribena in the back it literally just sat there and I was able to soak it up with a cloth instead of the seats doing it!

You must go back and get a refund on it. It doesn't sound like they've done it at all and it isn't really worth £299 either so get a refund on it. I too got a huge kit with a variety of different cleaning products, cloths etc plus a full written guarantee and a sticker that they wanted to put in my car, which I wouldn't have. If you haven't got that then they haven't done it.

The fact that it doesn't do on the first day what they said it would do (and what it does, certainly on the interior in my experience) is proof enough to take to trading standards. It isn't the emperor's new clothes that you've bought - it should make a difference on the car. Whether it's worth the amount they charge is another question!

... the inside stuff is like scotchguard used to be (what ever happened to that stuff) .

I believe its being fazed out due to cancer concerns. That and the fact the stuff is so indestructible they found it had worked its way into penguins at the South Pole!

(I am not at all bothered by such things usually but its a chemical I avoid avidly!)

They charged £299!!!!!!!!!! Don't see how I've got any com-back seeing as it is an invisible material they are supposedly applying, but did expect to see a showroom type of finish which I definately haven't got, and I am wearing new glasses this week having had my eyes recently checked?! also was promised a touch up pack which didn't get! so in my eyes is a further indictment that car hasn't been touched!!

It is truly the automotive 'emperor's new clothes'.

I was offered it with a new car but a quick search here soon changed my mind.

Did you pay any part of this transaction on a credit card (or Visa Debit)? Deposit maybe?

If you did, this is exactly the sort of situation where a section 75 claim would be in order. There is a sticky/article elsewhere here.

I buy spray cans of Scotchguard for £6.99 to protect the interior of my cars - carpets, seats and door cards. It only goes on the fabric and not the plastic.

Superguard, Diamondbrite etc etc are a con. Too many commission levels. My mate who is a car salesman hates selling the stuff. The only time he recommends it is if you live in a block of flats and can't clean your car or are a high mileage road warrior - on the basis that some protection is better than no protection.
