I applied on 20 jan and was turned down. I used to have an account with them about 8 years ago but closed it down.
I was not given any reason for decline and told to contact experien so was wondering if i should reapply in 6mths after all my searches drop off or wait 3 years until my defaults drop off.
I do have a HSBC Plus account and an A/L premier account which my salary is paid into.
Anyone with defaults have a First Direct Account.0 -
I applied for their credit card. They told me they'd like to see a few months transactions first before they offer me the card, as they can approve/decline on account history rather then credit rating (I did not meet the credit scoring for the card). They told me to call back in a few months and they'll likely be able to offer me a card.0

This has to be why First Direct has declined you.......
I am not aware of anyone that has managed to open an account with them with defaults.
Well done on clearing them, it'll all pay off in the end.0 -
Hi all. Have now got my cheque book and debit card through but I notice no cheque guarantee facility. I'm now a little concerned FD may have given me a full-auth card, does anyone know if they do these? I'd just not want to transfer my existing current account to them (which isn't full-auth) if I was in effect downgrading my card. Have tried checking the BIN number online and it just states "First Direct debit card" without any separate breakdown. First six digits are 465946. Any help appreciated!0

Plus they only give full accounts - there is no such thing as full auth cards with FD, they are all the full cards (i.e. no authorisation necessary at point of sale):D

Hi. Newby here. I have had a FD account for about 13years. Recently they replaced my FD Meastro(sp?)card with FD Visa Debit. On the back is a hologram containing William Shakespeare: it also states "cheque guarantee £100". My card number also starts 465946.0
