What's an AVU?
They are the people at RBS group that, once an application has gone through the conveyor belt of initial elegibility checks, Equifax checks, identity checks, Experian checks, employer checks, right at the end of the production line even after the debit card has been sent out, pick up the application and go "You know that account we agreed to open and sent you a card out on? Well, you can't have it any more. Tough titties!"
(Short answer : Application Verification Unit)Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I'm genuinely asking whether they can be used.
yeah, you basically use HSBC branches if you need branch services. machines work for paying in cash/cheques/coins (if they have one)
for some services you may need to call in advance but im not sure what they are. probably just the norms like large cash withdrawals.Debts at LBM (May '08) £5760 - Lloyds CC £4260, Lloyds OD £1500;Debts as of May 28th 2011:Santander CC: £0.00Lloyds OD : £0.00DFW Nerd #1247 - Proudly dealt with my DebtsOlympic 2012 Challenge #12

Card, cheque book and welcome package came today. I phoned them to 'activate' the account (it was already working fine) and they asked if I wanted an overdraft. I asked for £250 (interest free) which they agreed to, without a credit check (they looked at my HSBC account).0
