What would you recommend for this dress? Either going for the Mori Lee version or the Alfred Angelo.

It says it doesn't come with a petticoat which I assume means I need one? lol.

You will need a total net petti, 163 or a 153, with this as you can see the hoops already through the dress. Other than that a 122 (1 hoop) but this will depend on the amount of fabric in the skirt.

    Hi

Sorry I got married a while ago so may not be bang up to date! But the shop where I bought my dress from hired petticoats/hoops for £10......may be worth asking before you fork out?

ohhhh (sticks hand up enthusiatically) PLEASE may I have some help too??!!

I've just ordered my dress.... I don't think I can post a link or a pic as I'm quite new but it's Maggie Sottero Christina.

It's a hollywoody style number, an original not a copy. The built in layer of under-fluff is one layer of net and a liner type fabic next to the skin. The net seemed v. stiff in the shop so I expect you could puff it "manually" a bit but the dress on me in the shop looked NOWHERE near as puffy as the lady in the "offical" photo (and bear in mind I am a clear ft shorter than her and much wider!) so I wanted the fullness for "balance" so to speak as I am busty. The dress is very full fabric wise and IMHO needs something to keep it "out" especially as it has a train which is quite long.

Just wondering if there is a suitable petty to help this?

Also, with a style like this, what is the recommendation for holding the train up?? In my past life my dress had a bustle which I loved (french bustle I think, just a hook and eye affair), but I'd like an opinion on whether this dress would suit being bustled of whether best just being looped onto the wrist? The train sweeps to one side at the back, so I'm not sure?!

    Thank you so much....

The net in an original HW dream gown is VERY stiff. Many ladies go for the ultimate in pettis for their HW gowns which is a Jupon 185. http://www.jupon.com/template_images/new_petticoats/185.html

    A 128 would be great!!

Not enough train to loop, you'll see the underneath of your gown and petti. A single hook and eye will be lovely. hthx

I don't think a 163 will be too big at all, but it depends on how much net is under the gown already.
Trouble with images is that they may use any type of 'fullness' to get the best impression of the skirt. This can sometimes mean using 2 petticoats of different sizes!

Blimey, don't seem to have responded to this so my sincerest apologies in the delay.
To me, a 115 would suffice. 1 hoop with 2 tiers of net however, if there is already some structure underneath, ie net already, some simple support in a 116 would suffice. x
