MONEY MORAL DILEMMA. Would you give up a £50 train seat for a pregnant woman?

Absolutely - where is the humanity in some of you??? The world would be a better place if we helped those less fortunate then ourselves.
And anyway, how do any of you know what her circumstances are?
Maybe a relative needed her and she has been UNSELFISH by jumping on the next available train? Why are so many of you ASSUMING she had the time to book herself a seat? Why are some of you blaming HER for something that MAY have been totally beyond her control??
Preganancy is awful, and I would not want to feel responsible if something terrible happened to her unborn child because I didn't want to get off my fat a*se and think about someone else before myself (well, in fact two people)
Karma will always come and bite rude, ignorant, selfish people on the backside for their horrible attitudes. Ugh some of you should be ashamed.
She still has a choice of either an upgrade or to not travel. You're making it sound like it wasn't her choice to be pregnant or get on the train
I don't think you're doing women any favours at all. We have as many choices, if not moreso, than men. We're not as stupid or helpless as you're making us sound, tbh.
Oh, and a needy relative wasn't part of the OP0 -
Surely being old and disabled is a 'lifestyle choice' too???......I mean, REALLY....if they'd had any consideration for the rest of us, then SURELY they'd have gone and committed voluntary euthanasia by now????.....Some people are just SO inconvenient being pregnant and old and disabled and the like!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad:
Oh, and for anyone who is in any doubt, I was being sarcastic then in response to the TOTALLY RIDICULOUS comment made above!!!!!
It's just a shame that a few of these posters mothers made the 'lifestyle choice' of getting pregnant if the comments of their offspring are anything to go by!!!
What, more ridiculous than suggesting everyone who has an opposing opinion to yours should have not been born or commit suicide?
Are you seriously suggesting that women don't have the free will to decide whether to have a baby or not? :rotfl:0 -
Certainly not.
I wouldn't want to be regarded as sexist and politically incorrect by showing favour.
Besides, we taxpayers are subsidising her pregnancy with state handouts, I'm not giving up a seat as well.
Ah well Bob, just as well there are some of us prepared to reproduce so that there's another generation to subsidise miserable old gits like you when you retire.0 -
 I personally don't think that is a good enough reason to create a life
In fact, I think it's an appalling reason to have a child.

At the risk of being totally hated by loads of you..I would have to say no I don't think I would as if I had planned a train journey & gone to the trouble of booking the seat in advance & paid £50 for it I would expect a hassle free journey in comfort.. I would also expect anyone else to have the common sense to have ensured they booked their seat as well before they travelled..especially on a bank holiday! If it were for an elderly person though or someone disabled I would have to offer my seat to them :rolleyes:0

I can't believe the attitude of some people, I was brought up with manners and would give up my seat without a second thought!0

I am not sure that I would describe sitting in a cramped train seat as travelling in comfort, as for hassle free I always seem to be in the same carriage as someone on their mobile talking so loudly that everyone within the carriage can hear every word. They seem to not be able to spend any part of the journey not talking & make call after call.
I would & have given up my seat just to escape this to anyone pregnant or not!0 -
Not for free, no.
However if she was prepared to pay me for the seat, then I'd stand and she could sit. Not that I'd be happy standing for 5 hours myself, hence why I'd have booked, but I'd give her the option.
But if she'd gone for the cheaper option and just hoped that someone who take pity on her, then I leave her with her choice. It's all about taking personal responsibility.0 -
I would have to. my body would do it even if my brain was telling it not to. I would be major p'd off but i'd feel too guilty not to.
weather it was her fault or not you cannot let a heavily pregnant woman stand up for any duration.
I am disgusted at the amount of selfish people who said they would'nt.
Where are your manners and morals people!!!!0 -
Very surprised that so many people wouldn't give up their seats. I definitely would and for someone elderly too. I'd like to think someone would do the same for my wife or gran.0
