I also pick it up if I see it at bootsales, I used to get any plastic containers, but there is a huge variation and now I only buy Tupperware.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

I was discussing this thread with my Mum tonight, which prompted a good ol rummage through the kitchen cupboards to see what we could find............Wow!
Amongst other things we found; a full set of yellow sunray storage canisters, orange sunray bowls and the star of the lot, a jelly mould complete with all four of the original inserts for the top (star, xmas tree, heart & flower). Most of them are still in daily use, except maybe the jelly mould LOL!
I remeber my Mum & her friend Ruth running Tupperware parties when I was little, so most of it is getting on for 30 years old.

My Mum bought Tupperware as a young mum and my Dad is still using the stuff today, so it must be 30+ years old. I've got a few pots that she bought about 20 years ago and they're all going strong. I remember their drinks containers never leaked in my packed lunch, I haven't found anything else that reliable since.

I wonder if modern tupperware is as good as the stuff they made 40 years ago? I suppose we'll have to wait 40 years and find out ;)

I remember one of our tupperware seals splitting a little after years and years of daily use as a sandwich box.

The tupperware lady said bring it back. We did and they exchanged it. Told us it had a lifetime guarantee! This was years ago mind you.

Did anyone see the BBC breakfast show this morning? Some think tank has decided that we need to foster neighbourly relations in the suburbs, and one suggestion was the return of tupperware parties so we could all socialise with our neighbours and foster a feeling of community. A young-ish woman was very keen to get back to the days of washing cars on Sunday and street parties, whereas the crusty old historian said she had no idea what the good old days were like and she watched too many Ealing comedies

I can see their point in a way, in the spirit of Old Style it would be nice if people got together more and shared domestic skills it would be better than sitting at home with your microwave dinner and not even know your neighbours' names.

my mum's oldest tupperware multiserver has just fallen apart after over 30 years too... I'm afraid to say that I am hopeless at cooking rice the proper way since I've always done it in a multiserver!!!!!

Delighted to let you know that after being unavailable for years in the UK, the Tupperware multi-server is now back! I am a Tupperware consultant, so PM me if you would like a catalogue.

    Cheers

  • OH MY GOD!!

i just looked for that multi-server on ebay to have a look what it was, and my dad had one of them! he was given it by my nanna when i was a nipper (about 15 years ago) - and who no doubt had it for years before that. I always though it was just a serving bowl. To this day he only uses it for serving salad in. NUTTER! i am gonna get me one of these!
