mobile phone options whilst working in Europe

I would get a sim card locally when she gets there. Buy a cheap unlocked mobile off Ebay and a French sim.
I worked for Eurocamp in Italy, and a local sim meant I could call and text back home, and in Italy. A UK sim card would mean calls and texts to French numbers would cost her more.
what a coincidence.... she is working for Eurocamp but in France.....smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

one thing to add with the vodafone option might be worth for the parents to take out a vodafone pay as you go / sim only deal (see quidco for a cashback deal for simonly deal), and than add my family to it for £5. Than can call her number inclusive. Very good for daugthers and mothers to talk to one other :-D.0

I think it would need to be checked whether Family can include calls to or from abroad.

already checked and have done it myself (oh just remember did it even later than couple years ago, did it in March when Olga went for few days.) If "ONE" of the family member is aboard, he/she cant calls using my family / stop the clock etc.. But it does not stop other ppl who is part of the group to call her using my family / stop the clock and if he / she is on passport only pay 75p / free from 1st June if in one of the 35 countries passport can be used / or when it first started on vodafone network :-)..0 -

I forgot to mention SFR's add-on bundle costing €5 a month which then charges 30 cents per call up to an hour to SFR and landlines, either weekday daytime or at weekends.
Could be useful with callthrough on ordinary landlines such as a Paris number; but note 6 cents a minute surcharge by SFR for 0811 numbers.0 -
ok so this has come up again.....
if i get her a vodafone sim card PAYG then add the summer roaming
then forward her 3 number to her vodafone number
how would the free minutes (she gets on her 3 contract) work with the vodafone number?smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....
