Now I think you've lost it, I was prepared to play along with your skewed view but you've just shown up that you really don't have a clue. I think an earlier post was right, I had been working on the assumption I was dealing with an another adult but I fear I may have been wrong.
A site can impose their own terms and condition, it is legal to buy and sell livestock in the Uk for instance but ebay prohibit sales of livestock except in very rigid categories. Using your very odd take on things then i suppose we should all take ebay to court for going against the laws of the land for refusing to let us sell puppies or cats online.
Or, shall we all tackle Tesco who refuse to take cheques anymore, after all it isn't against the law in the UK to use a cheque, how dare they dictate to us how to pay in their shops, on their premises.
daft, absolutely daft.
no soooooooolllllin , no no no no no.
Because no body said tesco not acceptig cheques was illegal or that ebay banning sale of livestock was illegal but pgilc1 did say that adding postage was illegal if ebay say you can't and simply and utterly is not illegal.

Your the one saying its fine to add fees that shouldnt be there.
"what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive"
Somebody does not quite know what their own argument is now.... They are just digging themselves a bigger hole and painting an even bigger D on their cap.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Ok, enough's enough, I'm obviously going to have to threaten to post the lewd group hug smiley again guys..

I think rather than arguing the semantics, could we all just let live and agree that generally even above and beyond ebay rules, it's a nicer and happier world if we can try to sort things out with sellers/ buyers in the first instance and then use the ebay complaint handling system when things go wrong. I'm usually the first to be Ms Cynic but as I'm an honest ebayer I hope for the best in others.
Back to the OP - would you be happy to let the sale go ahead if they're ok to NOT charge you p&p?
pippitypip
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here!

No cyril- everybody realises that :rolleyes:What alot of the people on here who claim to be ebay experts fail to realise is that ebay have no interest in forcing free postage on sellers for the benefit of the buyer, Ebay are not so stupid as to think that sellers will not just add the cost to item price, plus an extra ten percent or more for the extra fees ebay will now take.
Ebay are forcing lower and free postage on sellers to generate more revenue for themselves from final value fees. That makes the "buying experience" worse as things generally become more expensive.
This is due to massive loss in revenue and plummeting share prices over the last year.
Don't be so naive as to think ebay put the "buyer experience" before their bottom line.
What some BMW owning pricks don't seem to realise is that when people make more money without ebay taking their share, ebay put prices up for all of us.This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

Blimely went for a nice relaxing walk along the beach, had a plate of oysters and came back to this. Might I recommend a nice bracing stroll for anyone who's woken up this morning like a bear with a saw head (not mentioning any names).
Anyway his t&c's were
"Postage and Packaging costs will be included on the ebay invoice, any requests for certain types, e.g. recorded of P&P should be requested as any losses due to the courier will be at the buyers expense. Mind you only one package hasn't made it so far!"
And yep it's a template he uses and hasn't sold on ebay in months and didn't know about free P&P in DVD category. And I didn't neg him, report him or blackmail him... I just said don't worry about it mate.... as long as you don't file a non payer on me.
If he had been a high volume DVD seller exploiting a loophole I wouldn't have even been posting on here I would have reported straight away.I was just unsure of ebays regulations in the DVD category and wondered what he was up to.
And before his highness harks on about reading all sellers T&C's in minute detail....shock horror I don't even open the auction page when bidding on cheap DVD's.
I simply search on- Items ending soonest, 0 to 0.99p, Condition New, Free P&P, Location UK
I have my search customised view set so I can see all the info - feedback score, location, seller ID,Item number etc.
Then when I'm in the mood and have 20 minutes to spare I just search through the dvd category with no keywords specified for auctions ending in the next couple of hours and cut and paste item numbers into a snipe bidder.
It's actually a very nice way to buy films you end up finding loads of stuff you'd long since forgotten about.
Why do I feel comfortable not even reading an auction before bidding? Well obviously I'm only spending a pound or so -but ebay's tighter regulations coupled with paypals no quibbles refund policy gives me the confidence to do so. And I have myself nice shelf full of Dvd's to watch for very little time, effort or money.
BTW I'm still a little confused by the listing rules in the DVD category. Are we saying that sellers have to offer free P&P?
Seems to be plenty of sellers charging for postage just as per a normal listing in any other category.
And others nominating their free postal service as " Collection In Person".

Thanks for coming back greeneye - all's well that ends well.
Indeed, it seems lots of sellers have taken to adding p&p sneakily in their listing details as ebay have stopped you from being officially able to add p&p in some categories.

As i said, in the context of this scenario 'illegal on ebay'
You're now making yourself look (even) sillier Cyril because you're taking single words and arguing over the semantics and context.
Cant you just admit (like everyone else knows) you're wrong?

All the clarification you need Cyril??
You see, noone was trying to blackmail anyone, the T&Cs in the listing were confusing, the seller admitted they were in the wrong and noone got reported.
You can climb off your high horse now.
Would you like a slice of freshly cooked humble pie? :whistle:0 -

yea but you didn't say "illegal on ebay" you just said "illegal", when i asked what you meant i.e illegal on ebay or illegal in terms of law you still didn't state you meant against just ebay policy, but here's a thought, if you just didn't refer to ebay policy as law when it isn't then you might make more sense.
also i am not going to admit i'm wrong, all i said was that encouraging the use of negative feedback to "persuade" a seller to give into any demand you make is feedback blackmail and a scam and should not be encouraged, which, like it or not you all were doing.
I pointed out that a mutual transaction withdrawal was a better option in the case of a genuine misunderstanding and that if someone objects to "overcharging" p+p they can report it without trying benefit themselves by using it as feedback blackmail to get a reduced price and that those that do that are themselves scammers.
None of that is wrong and i stand by it 100%
i know soolin is a board guide here and has a lot of supporters but i'm not here to "conform" with people i offer my advice on ebay based on experience and i will also always pick people up on what they say where i consider it to be encouraging scammers.
If you want to call me a "a bmw driving pr1ck" label me "the real scammer" without any reasonable cause, call me "stupid" for having a different opinion and perspective on ebay to you then go ahead children call names like little girls in a playground, it's water off a ducks back and it looks a damn sight worse on you lot than it does on me.
I'm here to stay and i'll be giving my opinions where i see fit without the slightest regard for whether or not it conforms with what the clique believe.
That’s my final stance on the matter, and it won't change if you post another 100 pages of insults.0
