nco41……………I remember your post well, blatant abuse of the small print by the IC, we are not the first or indeed the last to fall victim to their greed.

Thousands upon thousands of policy holders are abused day in day out by these so call professionals, our problem is that we don’t shout it loud enough about the injustice of the Insurance business.

You have only to go to my question of corruption thread, and see how it exposes the bullying mentality of the Insurance Industry there are numerous posters hell bend in covering up the scandal at any cost, they try and covertly cover their tracks and promote the Insurance Industry.

Have you ever wondered how on a Money Saving site there are so many Insurance bodds, lining up to “try” and wash over the obvious imbalance of power held over the policy holder by the IC,s………………….and what’s more they are on here defending and covering and clouding all day…………..who’s paying them?, to say the least………disgraceful.

So………………enter my arena, you are welcome, there are only 6 or 7 of them so its easy for me so far………lol.

All I ask is that you try and hold yourself back somewhat and not splash the water too hard, as the little fish are now planning to get the thread pulled……..so we must be touching some nerves ay?.

I have managed to bring in a few smaller fish, it is my intention to “play them” until the big fish come in…………….

There a few ways to address your problems, it would be wise to plan your action before you show your cards to the axe man the Insurance Company.

A word of advise, there are some on the forum that aint what they make out to be.

So be careful, best chatting some other time in private maybe, if you need any help giz a shout.

ps a word of understanding from genuine people like yourself and others, brushes over a thousand bias words from the Insurance Industry fraternity.

lets expose the Insurance Industry in all its murky water.

    Good luck Mate……all the best.

Hey Z thanks for the message.
I think your on to a winner here but not just with insurance companies.I hope your forum has the desired effect and the minows make way for the moby Dicks of the insurance world.
The corrupt banks are being brought to task and that fight will soon be won by Martin and the consumer so maybe the insurance sharks could be the next target?
    What do you think? :exclamati

I agree with your NCO41, there is room for improvement in any business, things constantly change.

Insurers like any business are there to make money, at the moment people place the cost over the cover and service so this is what a lot of companies are focusing on. If / when customers realise that with Insurance just like any other product you get what you pay for and start voting with their feet then more Insurers will start offering better cover and service.

I for one pride myself on giving a combination of good service and cover along with a decent price.

    Hey pedro123456,
    how you doing?
    Thanks for your advise.
Now sorry to be blonde but what is "pm" .
Please do tell me what i need to be cautious of.Being a newby im a "little green around the gills"
    Keep me in the loop

Note to dacouch. You say you pride yourself in giving a combination of good price and service.:TThat is commendable, but us a the trusting layman here rely on honesty when we take out our policy. We read our policies but to the untrained we beleive in what we have infront of us.Not some policy that is not worth the paper its written on because in between the lines we are susposed to know like in my case.my mum having a heart attack 29 years previous consitutes a pre-existing condition.I was never asked about or advised about my mums susposed condition. But it is this "get out clause" in the policy that enables insurance companies to get out of forfilling their contract with us.
Dacouch you may be as honest as the day is long, but you work for a indusrty that is corrupt ,artfull and shifty as a wagon load of monkies.
We the trusting public rely on information given to us by the "experts " who sell us our policies. That is what they are there for.To advise and guide us.Not to miss-lead and miss-sell to us to line their own pockets.!
Dacouch please do not think this is a slur on you.Its not.Just at the industry you work for.

At last someone with a vision of truth, NCO41, back soon quick coffee.

    Nco41

    Buenos Dios Amigo,

I am very well thank you, and you? I hope time is helping you.

Another day has dawned and the show must continue.
    Now…….first things first……pm + private message
Click on my name first option say’s send Pedro123456 a private message…..click it write/send to me.

Let me stop you in your tracks…….dacouch is as honest as the day is long?, how do I perceive him?, what game does he “actually” play on mse forum?....well that’s open to debate, and if he wishes to be made aware of my position, I am more than happy to discuss with him……….and the others………..the IFA etc on a separate thread about the role I perceive they should be playing, and the role they “actually” play, of course this will only be my opinion.

    He is not alone though.

Reading between the lines you anticipate what I am thinking, your problem now is though you have a dilemma, ………..a blatant abuse of the IC’s T&C…………..but you need pointing in the right direction, you are quiet rightly angry that the IC have totally S##T you from a great height.

I am glad you are questioning it and telling people despite how I know it must hurt to have to come to terms with loosing your mother, and then having to defend yourself against the immoral and unethical decisions of the loophole making IC.

Many people just get tied up by the IC’s T&C and role over………………..that’s why the Insurance bodds support these idiotic, unbalanced, unfair loopholes.
So……………………………lets see how helpful MSE members can be, I have faith that most people here are well intentioned (without financial incentives) …………time will tell

Ok nco, these are a few things to consider.

1- write down in full your case, try to split your letter into more paragraphs, this will make it easier for you and others to read. Put your contact details on the letter.
2- Citizens Advice go and see them they make be able to cast some light on it, give them a copy of your letter. Take policy details POL number, name of IC etc full T&C (loopholes) if you have been given them.
    3- FSA- http://www.fsa.gov.uk/
4- RING them…………….explain your story…….GET A CONTACT NAME and NUMBER…………..send a further copy of your letter to the contact name.
    5- FOS (ombudsman) http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/
6- Same again…….ring them, they may ask if you have had a “final response” from the IC
7- Again contact FSA & FOS after a week or so.
8- Consider using a Independent claims advisor, I am using one, I understand he is good, however I have only spoke over the phone and via e-mail so at this time I aint able to fully recommend him…………..although he appears to a genuine fella…………..lol
9- Ask your GP surgery if they have a copy of the Joint ABI/BMA that their GP’s should be guided by…………….when they say no we wasn’t even aware it exsisted give them these details
10- and this is the hardest one........its a fine line beteen debating with the IC and showing your hand so to speak, if you aint careful you will supply them with all the info they need to hoodwink the Ombudsman......this is a learning curve, difficult to explain really !!!!!

    and
    http://www.abi.org.uk/Document_Vault/2008_BMA-ABI_Guidance_FINAL1.pdf

ok that’ll do for now……………………any fish coming into my pond?........lol,

    catch ya later nco

NCO I can understand why your perception of Insurance is corrupt but I can assure you it is not. Like any industry there is good and bad.

If you were one of my customers I would have taken the time to make sure you had a suitable policy. I actually explain the Medical Warranty and read through it with my customers. Unfortunately a lot of customers do not realise the importance of declaring all previous medical problems. So I would also add my own lines for instance asking if anyone has high blood pressure or takes aspirin and betablockers etc etc. Its amazing how people forget to mention these as they assume its not needed to be declared. This often results in finding other medical problems that we can then declare and get cleared with the Insurers.

I would give you the relevant documents and policy there and then so you could also read them. I also stress the importance of reading the paperwork to policy holders. The vast majority are not interested in reading documents so I point out the most important pages and let them know if they only have time to read part of the policy to read these pages.

Unfortunately when you buy cover on the internet which I assume you have done the Insurers will have all of the warnings there and all of the relevant documents are available for you to read. A lot of people will either not read the documents or read them and not realise the importance of declaring conditons. If you buy over the phone they should read you the declarations as well, however a lot of call centre staff are pressured into making call as quick as possible so they will not ask as in depth questions as I would.

My sales process is no different from any other decent broker and I have had no problems with people not disclosing medical conditions. If you want to reduce the chances of problems in the future it might be worth you popping into a local broker and taking cover through them. They can find the best policy and take the time to explain the cover and any medical warranties etc.

Like I said the majority of Insurers offer a good service and will pay claims if the correct information has been declared. Insurance (Especially Travel Insurance) is incredibly complex and as you have found not declaring important information can cause major problems.
