  • Hi, If I'm posting in the wrong place please forgive me. There is so much on this forum that it is very difficult to find your way around. Anyway, I'v been looking at what appears to be may people winning lots of comps. My question is this. How do you do it? Is it important to buy one of the many comping mags that are available? Or aree they a big waste of time and money. Whats the trick?
    Thanks DG

    Good morning,

There's no magic formula or special secret to winning. The trick is 'volume', By that I mean, the more competitions you enter, the more chances you have of winning. Obviously there is no point entering competitions for prizes you don't want though! Many compers on here (including myself) are entering around 100 competitions A DAY. I only use this forum and I don't buy any comping mags.

The comping guide is always a good place to start on this forum: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1014121

    Good luck!
:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j

  • Just have a question about the 'Thanks' count next to my profile info. I joined the forum over a month ago and entered good few hundreds of comps, however my 'thanks' count is far far from that (currently says Thanked 88 times in 7 posts)! Same as the number of post I thanked in. I am worried that I am duplicating my entries because of that, but I am not sure if it is only the thanks count is broken (not registering my thanks), or all thanks button is not working and does not disappear when I click it>
Does any of you have similar problem???

The Thanks count shows how many times you have been thanked by others not how many times you have pressed the thanks button.
You have been thanked 88 times in 7 of your posts, 59 of these were in THIS post.

ETA. Replies just like buses, nothing for an hour, then 3 come at once

Your 'thanks' button shows how many times others have thanked you - not how many times you have clicked on the thanks button to thank others for posting comps (and therefore making a note to yourself that you have entered that particular comp).

the thanks count is the number of times you have been thanked not how many times you have thanked people
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

    Hi,
I'm still relatively new to this and wanted you good people's opinion on entering honeymoon competitions when you're not getting married?

In most it doesn't state in the T's & C's that you need to be married... and I have an OH so would have an appropriate person to take along...

Has anyone won a honeymoon? Do they check? Is is horrendously awkward when people ask questions about a non-existent wedding?!! :rotfl:

The honeymoon holidays just look soooo good! :D

    Hi and welcome!
To be honest, and could be just the way I feel about things, but I wouldn't enter a honeymoon comp if I wasn't married or getting married. Otherwise it's just a holiday and there are plenty of those around to try at. Me and DH didn't really have a honeymoon as couldn't afford it so that's my reasoning behind my entering. (not that I'll ever win - or fingers crossed!). For accepting a prize you should never make something up. Tell the truth and accept whatever they say.

There are plenty of comps around that I'm sure are suitable for you so enter way! And have fun!
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A
    I would like to be lucky,healthy & happy in 2020! :T
