HSBC over the years I've had a loan, credit card with 7,500, overdraft increase etc.

First Direct...zilch! maybe it's because I already had things with HSBC.

weird you say that - I applied for 1st direct Bank & CC, on the Monday. They provisionally accepted me and so I thought i'd ring HSBC (my bank) and ask why their sister bank could give me a credit card but they can't.

HSBC said they could and my behaviour score (was in 70's) would easily qualify me for a cc at lowest apr.

Anyway, Friday I found out that 1st had declined me in the end due to score - so can't appeal either, then later that day HSBC inform me they have made a decision and i'll be told tuesday!

Weird, co-incidence or fact - they share info! I am sure that HSBC waited until 1st had made their decision before giving me a yes/no answer.... you think?

Oh, I still don't know what their answer is lol - bet its a no!

ahh, mine was accepted and I got forms to sign within 3 days and then it got declined after I sent back - strangely enough cos I thought when they sent the forms that you'd been accepted...... I started a thread on banking to ask about their processes and they seem to 'vet' each account when they send forms back.....

Shouldn;t have been referred mate, mine was instantly approved due to my high HSBC behaviour score..... proves what that means in the grand scheme of things as I got told to sod off in the end hehe

Exactly - I think it's a no and the advisor didn't want to tell me cos he knew i'd have bit-his-bloody-head-off..... they advised me to apply and said they could and would compete with 1st direct and cos I bank with them 'they have history on me'.... bar-stewards best not say no or i'll be whining to Head Office!

So in reality there is no point of having a BS with HSBC as they disregard it. With barclays they build up your LIMITS and they are guranteed and there is no external check
