bargainluvva wrote:That's interesting. I sent them an email and just got a shed load of advice on what to do if my system has a problem. Like you I want the discs so I will always be able to install vital info if necessary. Do you know which department you got through to as I might give this a go too. Thanks
I went through the UK switchboard using saynoto0870, I was then transferred to India, then to a really helpful guy in service. I said I wanted to remove the partition to increase disk size and it was just hanging at 87% when I tried to create the restore disk. Said no probs, disks on way.
He gave me a direct 0870 number, but left at work - will try and remember and post tomorrow.0 -
e-value code to use is 1 [first box] n04135b [second box]
change the primary battery to 6-cell will cost £350.75 inc.
15.4" screen/wireless LAN/256mb memory/DVD rewriter.
This differs from the model you arrive at following davilown's steps which gives you the same laptop with a CD writer/DVD-reader for £339.58 inc.
The DVD rewriter is well worth the extra tenner.shady007 wrote:I just get 'We're sorry, but we are unable to process your request to configure the identified product. ' when I enter 1 in the first box and n041356b in the second box?0 -

Can anyone give me an idea how much of a step up the Inspiron 630M (Pentium M 740) would be over the Inspiron 1300 (Celeron M 370)?
I need a laptop that will happily run Photoshop, basic CAD software & other apps. I don't need cutting edge games to run but I'm worried that the 1300 not quite have the oomph that I need, even with a bit of extra ram.
Sounds like it is not worth upgrading the processor on the 1300 as the FSB will be capped anyway so the 630M seems like a better option. Anyone?

For Photoshop and CAD I would personally go for the Inspiron 6400 which has a bigger screen than the 630m and a dual core processor which helps a lot with Photoshop (not sure if CAD utilises a dual core). I have a 6400 and do a lot in Photoshop and I can tell you it performs very well. You can already pick up a 6400 in the Dell Outlet if you are looking to save a few pennies.0
