vw polo 1.4 match TDI

Hi! I have an 06 1.4 TDI Polo and (touch wood!) no problems with it, I've been very pleased. I've covered 48,000 miles now, it's on Long Life servicing and that has worked very well too. I get 400-425 miles out of a full tank of diesel, which is currently costing me c£36-37. Only had to replace a couple of bulbs, two new front tyres and one set of brake pads. The tyres and pads were both around Chrsitmas 08, so the originals had lasted well. My tax is higher, because the emissions rates have been improved since I got mine. HTH!0

Around here diesel is only 3p more than petrol at the moment - the days of 10p+ have gone for now.
At 10k per year it's marginal, but the 1.4TDi is an excellent motorway cruiser - once at 50 get into 5th and no need change gear. This isn't the case for a three pot petrol.
Sory Daveyjp you're wrong on both fronts, my 3 pot petrol is wonderful from 45mph upwards, never any need to change gear on motorways.
At 10k a year diesel is by no means marginal, petrol will save hundreds several years.0 -
Apparently those are from abroad, so a bit of a worry re resale.
Thanks everyone for the input. I only do about £10k a year though, mostly running around, so I hope that wont be a problem.
Jean, the guy showed me that the back seats can drop down and the dogs can go in there with a guard.
If it is an import check out the length of manufacturers waranty, it was always a year less on VW imports unless things have changed.;)
And Jeannie, lay off the "french cars":p:p:pI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Hi, no, the one I was looking at wasnt an import, it was the ones on Motorpoint that were.
However, Ive been looking at reviews on the car and they arent too good are they.0 -

Broadspeed will sell you a brand new UK Polo 1.4TDI Match for £10058

Several things would put me off.
(a) at 10K per year, you dont need a diesel, thus you could save probably £1000 by buying the equivalent petrol
(b) there is a new polo just around the corner which will negatively impact the value of old model cars, and immediately make them look dated.
(c) If its six months old, that makes it a late registered 08 car. You could buy 09 / new cars for little more.
(d) if you have a Skoda already, would you not consider another and save £1000+ over the price of a Polo?
(e) Also, dont forget the Seat Ibiza SC.0 -

We also have a three pot petrol. From 45mph it's adequate when the roads are empty. Get behind a wagon at 56mph on the M62 towards Saddleworth and pull out to overtake and it's totally inadequate.0 -

OK, things have moved on a bit. Salesman rang and I told him we werent interested as we worked out we could buy a new one for only a bit more - also that we could use scrappage on a new one. He said my car wasnt old enough for scrappage but I said OH's was. He then offered to take OH's for scrappage and also take mine for part exchange.
This is basically £3250 off a new 2009 VW Polo - is that a good deal guys? Or is someone going to tell me I can do better ? Also dithering over what fuel now.0 -

Sounds like a good deal - you're now getting a brand new car for the price of an 08 one. Well played!0 -
It was much down to you guys - thanks.
NOW, what fuel should I go for. I notice the 2009 Match model doesnt have TDI - only the SE model does. I wonder why they changed that.0
