Car Scrapage Scheme "Unpopular"

Why mugs? Fact is the car dealer is a specialist in the models he sells. He has brochures available, a friendly smile, and is willing to spend many hours going through the finance forms - all free of charge, just part of the service. Plus if you're willing to learn the lingo, the old patois, then me old mucker the rough and readies can be spread a bit further. A nod to the wink and a Lady Godiva in my good man's pocket and now we can get down to business while the wife has a rather excellent Kenco free coffee.chucknorris wrote: »I thought that the take up will only be from the mugs that buy new cars from showrooms.
And it was a good job I could trade in my wife's Punto Meccano, for 2k - because coincidentally the list price of the Mercedes Cuuntess had just gone up by a touch over 2k. But the very nice man said we'd call it evens stevens. Done up like a kipper I was (ed: shurely made up???)0 -
On the news this evening when mentioning that Ford and Honda were requesting clarfication of the VAT situation before giving it's dealers the say so....Honda mentioned it had 900 orders under the scheme waiting for the go ahead....
It must suit itself to the small cars like the Fiat 500 mentied earlier....which is really exactly what's it's designed to do.
After all, I'm not likely to trade in my ageing pile of rust for a nice spanking Mercedes E63 AMG Estate fully loaded as much as I'd like one, in that case the £2000 off wouldn't even cover the Sat nav upgrade.....0 -
Merc is already giving 6k off some models, 2k doesnt cover the aircon tbh

Nissan are saying it's a success, with 2500 orders for Nissan Micra's / Notes.
Yes, thats 2500 extra of these bloody cars that can't seem to do more than 30mph......unless of course they are in a built up area with lighting, where they magically seem to speed up through the built up areas (never got that one! 30mph on A roads, hit some populated area, and weeeee, off they go).
So 2500 more of these stupid cars. They call that a success!
If theres one thing guaranteed in life, its that the car in front of the huge line of traffic, is a micra.0 -
German car scrap scheme 'abused'
Up to 50,000 cars meant to be scrapped under a German scrappage scheme have been illegally sold abroad instead, the country's police union says.
Lax controls, criminal gangs and a poor scrap metal market have been blamed for the cars being transported for sale in Africa and eastern Europe.
In a way I'm quite pleased about this. There's a garage near me that has a very nice Peugeot on a platform advertising the scrappage scheme. In reality, I doubt that there's anything wrong with the car, and it seems wasteful to scrap it when the real problem with the industry is overproduction.
Undoubtedly there will be some very wealthy people by the time the scrappage scheme is scrapped."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -
