Thanks stugib!! I have now posted the link on the digitalspy forum as well!
Not really a bump stugib:D:DAlways get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
I'm of the opinion that yes, artists should be paid for their work, but it is the organisation profiting from them that should pay... for example, the radio stations should pay for the licence, not the listener, and certainly not both! If you were to put on a performance and make/raise money, then in that circumstance you should pay for the licence.
I think there should be a PRS hotline, similar to the benefits hotline... then we could report noisy neighbours and those 'really annoying people' who play music on public transport. I think the threat of having the PRS round should succeed where the police have failed!
I'll sign your petition!0 -
Could I respectfully request you drop the constant bumping - I keep expecting to see there's been some news or someone else's experiences or opinions when I see this thread's been updated. At current rate you're going to take another 9 months to reach your 500 signatures - I think you've probably got everyone here that's ever going to do it.
With respect, I have no qualms with bumping this thread for the OP, just to help take the pressure off him feeling he has to.
So long as a worthy cause is bumped, any newbies or missed opportunities by any member of MSE, can do no harm other than help meet the target.
Assume this thread will be constantly bumped, so as to not feel so disappointed when you don't discover someone else's experiences, I would add "and opinions" but I feel I have added an opinion in this post with the added bonus of a fresh new BUMP!!!!:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

The other thing to do [if you actaully believe you may need a licence] is ask for them to send out details and a contract in the post before you sign anything...they will refuse to do so.
You've offered to pay [pending contract details etc], and they've refused. Case over.
Well they (the business) have sent 4 letters, all recorded signed for (on my insistence,) , to PRS asking for A CONTRACT .....these letters all have been received, the electronic proof of delivery has been obtained by the business in question, for all 4 of the letters....PRS have to date neither acknowledged nor replied to this repeated request...They have then been spoken to by phone by the business and just repeat the same mantra as follows:-
PRS:'it is all been done by phone in the first instance and the business owner agreed to pay it'
BUSINESS:"where is the contract"
PRS:we have sent you a 'licence' you dont need a contract....
BUSINESS: "We need a contract" for example utility companies give a contract for their services....we need a contract from you..
PRS: it has all been sorted over the phone that's how we do business, there is no contract...you agreed by phone that you have a tv on the premises...
Going around in circles.....
Today a letter from their debt collectors arrived, the debt collectors were immediately called, by the business...who said they were waiting for the contract to arrive, and would pay pending the contract...the debt collectors said exactly the same as PRS in the conversation above... going round in circles.....
Should the business now allow PRS to take them to court, then produce all the letters sent, asking for a contract - which have been repeatedly ignored by PRS ? personally I would do this, - your advice please!0 -
No contract = No Fee. as is common in law. I would let PRS try and convince a judge otherwise. Play them at their own game and repeatedly ignore them, choosing ONLY to listen to a judge should they somehow manage to convince the courts a trial is worthy.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Maybe if it goes as far as court we could all contribute a couple of quid via pay pal etc to help set a precedent.0

Latest update, the takeaway have now received a final notice, from debt collection agency. They say "despite previous corespondence a balance still remains outstanding" ...Similarly, "despite previous correspondence PRS have failed to supply a contract" and not acknowleged receipt of letters, though they were signed for. This debt collection agency also have been spoken to and they know that the takeaway have requested a contract, but they agree with PRS that no contract is needed...
On the final notice the takeaway name is wrong. Also it says unless you make a payment a claim form /summons MAY be lodged. Not WILL BE lodged.
So, what to do next please? Marleyboy??:A BFG, :Aany one else? thanks!!0
