Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours

hiya everyone,

new to this, not sure if anyone can help me.

Basically i got a ticket from redbridge council stating i was parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours, it was last sunday, (bank holiday weekend), my friend was doing a car boot sale in collier row, whalbone lane, she couldnt fit everything in her car, so i took a few bags for her.

There was nowhere to park, evrywhere was really busy, i parked on double yellow lines, under the impression i could unload if there were no yellow slit marks on pavement kurb?!

On the pcn it also states "Dangerous Position"? not heard this one before?is this a valid contravention code? i dont believe i was in a dangerous position, i was not obstructing vehicles or pedestrians, just parked normal. i have previosly parked there many times and never got a ticket, and the whole street was covered with parked vehicles (in front and behind me), i was the only1 with a pcn! I also wasnt aware that thay could put two contravention codes on 1 pcn? on the ticket it states "contravention code 01"

can someone please try and explain this to me?

do i have any grounds of appeal?

from realnervous

    Think you mean proscribed.

Pay up. You parked when you shouldn't, pay up.

That others didn't get a ticket may be unfair but it doesn't alter the fact you dun wrong & need to pay.

(Unless you would argue that just because some murders are never solved you are allowed to murder me??)

    Cheers!

err, no actually i meant "prescribed", perhaps you are from america?

please can you explain why you feel i "dun" wrong? As far as murders not being solved is completly irrelevant.

Please do not reply if you cannot help explain why i got a pcn....

post your pcn on here, omit your details and someone will come along and try to help to see if there are any discrepancies on it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Perhaps the info on the Redbridge council website will explain why you got a ticket.
    http://www.redbridge.gov.uk/cms/transport__streets/parking/controlled_parking_zones.aspx

this might be the relevant bit - All Day Waiting Restrictions – Single and double yellow lines will operate in all Controlled Parking Zones. For single yellow lines please check the nearest time plate or zone entrance signs. Double yellow lines are enforceable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Any just in case anyone is interested
Prescribe - To set down as a rule or guide

    Dear RealNervous:

Thank you for your kind words.
    Proscribe - Verb

    proscribed

to proscribe (third-person singular simple present proscribes, present participle proscribing, simple past and past participle proscribed)

    1. (transitive) To forbid or prohibit.
    2. (transitive) To denounce.
    3. (transitive) To banish or exclude.

Well, tough one that but I think it may be that you got a PCN because you were parking somewhere that was proscribed at that time and obstructing/parking dangerously. I could be wrong of course. Anyone else??

Cheers & best wishes to all, including those who don't agree with me..

if the contravention code has been incorrectly spelt, then it means something else right?

seadee says "Prescribe - To set down as a rule or guide"
it is spelt "prescribed" on the pcn......

My profile only notes them as interests, not that I promise to stick to such practices... albeit thanks for the prompt.

Would not most think part of Decency would be paying your fines when you really should??

Eh? What did he do wrong exactly? I can't see anything wrong?

The correct term as listed in the relevant documents is 'prescribed'.
