Thanks. I did download the driver from there before I emailed hp support. It doesn't solve the problem. I'm taking this printer back on monday.
  • Ok I have got the deal and I have taken a few pics with the camera....not overly impressed I must say...colours look a lot washed out. Also I have spent the last few hours trying to get the printer to work properly. Drivers everything installed ok but its churning out printed page with all the test not square on the page....i.e not 90 degees with the page edges. Seems to be a bit of problem loading paper ..its hard to know what distance to push the paper in and 2 or 3 pages are coming out along with the printed one. My lexmark x1130 works perfect ..never had probs like this out of the box.

Anyone else with similar probs? and what do you think I shoudl do if it continues...I suppose just take it back.

I must say the printer is excellent. Plugged mine in today, comes with 2 colour cartridges (1 photo) and a load of premium photo paper. Printed some photos taken on my Canon G5 and they are indistinguishable from proper photo's. Well chuffed ;D

Warning: Doesn't come with a USB cable though

  • Well after spending more time with the printer trying to get it to print properly I am going to take it back because it simply doesn't compare atall to my lexmark x1130 printer also bought from argos for £60. I am convinced there is a desagn fault in the hp printer where the paper is loaded in a horizontal postion and stays in that position whereas in most printers it is loaded and stays in a fairly vertical position and is therefore more easily fed into the printer through force of gravity and otherwise. This results in the paper being fed in correctly towards the print heads and the text is correctly alligned on the printed page.

Maybe I am totally wrong in this about the hp 7450 and maybe I have got a dud one....but I dont think so.

Ah well, I think we live and learn if its too good to be true usually it is!!!

I must have a dud one as well, I can't even get xp to recognise it. No that's not strictly true, it recognises it but it won't install it properly. ??? I think there is a design fault in the software, that affects certain people with particular configurations. I don't think that I should spend over £70 on a printer and spend several hours trying to get it to work.

I'd be interested to see if those of you returning your printers will be forced to return the camera as well.
    Cheers :)

  • Well will try to return the printer to argos in the nest few days, if they want to give me a different brand such as lexmark of equal value then I'll be happy with that. If they want the camera back well I wwill give that back to.

Last year argos did a sort of similar promotion

with a polaroid pdc3035 camera 3.2 mpixel camera. You paid £100 and for an extra £26 if I remember correctly you got a nice bag and a media card.  As camera's were more expensive at that time I jumped at the offer (oh I never learn I just done it again ...lol) and got everything home. Only problem was the camera was absolutely rubbish but the camera bag was great. Well i took it back and changed it for a konica kd20 2.0 mpixel but no optical zoom. A great little camera takes nice sharp pics. I have just taken a few shots with both it and the hp one and the konica takes far sharper shots i.e more in focus. I'm not really that into digital photography basicaly I just want a point and click and get good photo's from it.

If you've got XP make sure you don't connect the printer until you have installed the software otherwise you will f**k it up. I downloaded the latest driver/setup package from HP first, ran it and during install it asks you to connect the printer. Did that and all worked fine. Also if you've got paper loading problems make sure you are moving the paper size-guide across to meet the paper after closing the out tray otherwise it won't print straight or line up. Still well chuffed with mine  ;)

Don't need the camera though, anyone want to buy it before it goes on ebay?

  • How much do you reckon you'll get on ebay?
