    Jon,

Can you confirm is the default only showing on call credit? If so then i'd leave things alone - the last thing you want is to put this into dispute and then lose for them to update all 3 cra's - no-one uses callcredit for new credit, only monument who no longer offer credit anyway!

Think hard before you proceed mate - as I mentioned to plum, sometimes it is better to walk away with a mini victory than a slap in the chops and be worse than when you started.....
It's on with CallCredit and Experian...and only a matter of time before they tell Equifax to add it. None of the CRAs have seen evidence of a default, because there isnt any. Am just scanning the last 6 months statements to send to you, highlighting the date they decided to default me.

    Letter to Send Abbey

    NID you are incredible,

Do I send this before or after the SAR response? (if I even get one!)
I cannot believe you bank with the same company you have a large default with regardless of the fact you paid the debt!

A&L weren't part of Abbey when I moved from HSBC and was offering a pretty good deal.

    Thanks again!

Send it now mate - forget the SAR. This letter is to supercede it by basically saying 'come on, lets drop this fiasco here and now' and hopefully shabbey will see that and sit up and agree.

    Thats the plan anyway! :p

Mate I have enough to work with, i'll come back later tonight on this one! So is it the one default then, nothing else like late payments etc on other accounts?

Ok, letter prepared and signed and photocopied, I'll be sending it tomorrow lunch time registered first class signed for next day on the doorstep camera photo proof with armed guard! haha

    Fingers crossed.

Quick question, is it worth me telling the IFA to hold off the mortgage in principle appeal until Experian and Equifax are showing the NOC?

From what I understand, the appeal means someone (human) will read the file, but I don't like my chances. 21 days seems logical to wait.

    Thanks again.

Whaoh - whatever you do - get rid of any NOC! They are the devil in carnate mate - we never use them!

Just hold fire with IFA, tell him to wait a few days until Abbey respond. No guarantee but definitely backs up your case by giving a copy of your letter to the IFA as proof you're proactively fighting an incorrect default.

I'd just hold fire until you get a response, won't be too long to wait!

Ok, I contacted experian on saturday with their online thing, shouldn't be too hard to remove it.

Not too long indeed. At least I sleep better now knowing I'm finally on the right track.

If the NOC isn't appearing on my file today am I safe to assume it didn't get put on? or does it take a few days?

It'll take a few days to show, in fact being you've sent the request just leave it on for time being. Wait until Abbey get back to you.....

Just ignore last post, thinking about it having the NOC does mean the mortgage peeps have to manually assess you which could be a blessing in disguise, but similarly just wait til you get some reply before appealing the mortgage

Out of interest, who'd you apply to for the mortgage? I use GMACrfc or MAS No5 - both are self-cert as well so easy to get (well they were lol before the crash!)

I dont actually know the lender who the IFA applied to, I believe it was Halifax, RBS or Nationwide. It was only a Mortgage in Principle so not actually a full application
