Hi NID, thanks so much
I am going to send it today. They haven't made it clear which account they are referring to - ie loan or cc. I think I'll just put both account numbers on the one letter.
One question - when you say sign digitally, do you mean scan my signature in or just type my name in. On the previous letter, I wrote my name in block letters.
Many thanks0 -

Hi NID - this part confuses me. Is this not agreeing with what Egg has requested - proof of ID. This paragraph is confirming that they need to carry out identity checks - thus needing my proof of ID.
What do you think?

Hiya
Don't worry, it is basically saying to them 'why are you now asking for I.D / Signature when in the past you have already written to me without asking for it, i.e. you've already broken the law.
In essence they are stalling by asking you to sign, you do not legally have to sign. They know this and do it to waste time/see how clued up you are.
The letter (in particular that part you quote) is telling them to behave because they already know it is you, if not then you'll report them for dealing with you in the past.
Make sense?
Just send it off and wait for a reply.
Do 2 copies, one account number on each. Remember, each debt is separate so you do one letter per debt. Egg Loans is a different dept to Egg CC's so they can get split up etc....
Digitally sign means just pick a nice font and type your name, do not sign with your usual signature or they can copy it onto agreements - yes, that !!!!!! happens!!2010 - year of the troll

Hiya
Yes - put both in same envelope etc but make sure you cover all angles and do one letter per account. Sent to the name and address of last communication you got.
Bottom line is they will write back again arguing for proof, at which point you have to decide whether you want to pursue it (through ICO/Small Claims Enforcement)....
or
They will comply, as they should
or
You just send a bit of I.D in to satisfy them. It's entirely up to you, but you're effectively arguing that they are chasing you at that address, they are asking you to pay so it must be you! Therefore, why do you now have to prove it is you just because you are in control now? It's as though they are shirking their responsibilities cos they realise you've now sought professional help (or whatever) and know what you're doing - they are panicking!
You decide what to do, but personally i'd be stubborn and send that letter and see what they say.2010 - year of the troll

Ok, I've snet them now. I did 2 seperate letters and sent them seperate - both recorded delivery. I think they'll write back saying that they want ID again, so I'll just send them a utility bill. I won't send anything with a signature on or bank details.
Oooh, I'm looking forward to a reply already - I'm feeling this is going to be a drawn out process lol0 -
Hi never-in-doubt,
Thanks for replying to my post. Right ive just checked my files again, and the 7 defaults are from 1 catalogue only and were placed there by ICG, ive now retrieved an address for them from callcredit, but im unsure as to what i need to put in a letter to them, and i also have no account number to give them if they they request one?
The default with 02, was placed on my file by 02 themselves, the account was opened on the 20/12/06 and was then closed on the 12/12/07 with a default. Im not the sharpest tool in the box, and im having trouble understanding what to do lol!!
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Jem :hello:
NID will be along later I'm sure to help you with your letters.
It would help to have the account numbers - would you be able to call the catalogue company and get the account number off them? I'm trying to get my Egg defaults removed and no longer have the account numbers, but after a quick phone call - I soon got them.
RE the O2 default - FWIW, 3 Mobile gave me an incorrect default and I was successful in getting it removed. Basically they said I owed about £15 from 4 years ago!! Which isn't true and after a couple of strongly worded letters they removed it.
Definitely persevere, but if the adverse info is only on your Callcredit report, then I wouldn't worry too much as 99% of lenders check Experian and Equifax.
Good luck and stick with it!0
